It depends on your price range.

If you are facing the front of the consulate entrance, the Westin Guangzhou ($$$$) is right in the next building, on the right. There are numerous western-style hotel within a two block radius of the consulate. A Google search may yield some results. If you go around the corner (in the same building as the consulate) there is a very reasonable Chinese family-style hotel ($$). We ended up with a 2 bedroom apartment, with kitchen and laundry facilities, very reasonable. My fiancee went on QQ and found the info on the Chinese hotel, she made the arrangements, sorry I don't know the name, or contact info. Perhaps other China forum members have more information. You may find some more info by reviewing recent forum threads. Check with stevo222, I think that he is headed there very soon.

It is very hot and sultry in Guangzhou at this time of year.

Safe travels and good luck.

Thanks: We are frugal and I will not be there.

I will convey this info. to her. In my travels (3X) through China I have found the cheaper hotels that cater to Chinese clients are more to my liking and cheaper.

If anyone knows the name or web site of the family hotel please post for me.

Thanks

Hey hawkeyez,

You may want to review and update your timeline. It shows that your interviewing consulate is in Armenia (?). Correcting it may make your statistics more meaningful.

Good luck.

Can anyone recommend a hotel for my fiance's interview in Guangzhou ?

We stayed here: http://www.yangjiahua.com/index.html

It was fine, right next to the Consulate (part of the same building) and cheap, 138 RMB for a room with a shared bath, more for a private. It's actually apartments the guy rents out by the day but we didn't have any problems and he was friendly and helpful. Bring your own towels, soap, and toothbrush, etc. It also has a kitchen and washing machine which would be handy for longer stays.
