hello vjers,

so we got the NOA2 notice via email and text from USCIS on june 20th, today my fiance got the hardcopy of the NOA2 and it says that we are approved and so forth, but it says they've sent my petition straight to ciudad juarez(im from tijuana mex so i know my petition goes to juarez). My confusion here is that, from what i've read here on the forums, that after you get the NOA2 your petition gets sent to NVC, then NVC processes it and then they send it to the consulate you have to go to; my question, rather questions, are the following:

1. Did my petition actually get sent straight to ciudad juarez or is it going to NVC?

2. If it did get sent straight to ciudad juarez, is this a good thing or bad thing?

3. The approval notice mentioned we can contact the consulate for further info, does this mean i can already call in to set up my appointment?

Any more additional info would be greatly appreciated B-)

typo, i meant we got the hardcopy of the NOA2 yesterday

they always put that it's sent straight to the embassy but it really goes through NVC first then when you get a case number from NVC it'll be sent to the embassy. our NOA2 also said that but it obviously went to NVC for a case number first then to Laos US embassy. everyone's NOA2 says the same as yours but always goes to NVC first also. lol sorry for keep saying the same thing but just hoping you get the idea.

thanks for the help!!! i did call NVC yesterday(got a very unfriendly guy by the name of derek) and was told they havent recieved my petition and takes 15 business days for it to arrive, ive seen from different people here on the forums that sometimes the petitions get to NVC quicker and sometimes NVC processes them fairly quick, so my next question is when should i contact NVC

No set rule on this as it can be a different amount of time for each person. I would give it at least a week before calling to see if they have it. It might take about 2 weeks total for it to be sent to CDJ. Could be less, could be more.

After you wait the couple weeks, you can call the NVC to see if they have it or if it has arrived in Juarez yet. You need to get your CDJ case #, invoice # and beneficiary ID # from the NVC before you can fill out the DS-260.

Juarez will send the USC and the beneficiary in Mexico a letter. Sometimes the letter does not reach the person in Mexico because of the crappy mail system there. If the only one that receives it is the USC, it can be mailed or scanned and emailed and printed out by the beneficiary in Mexico. It does not have to be the original.

The letter you receive points you to the sites where the instructions, forms and place to schedule your appointment and interview is. The letter is the only 'packet' you will receive. You should go to the links listed in the letter. The letter will be needed by the K-1 applicant at their ASC, medical and interview in Juarez, along with the confirmation page from the DS-260.

Here are the forms: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html , instructions (very important to follow and they explain a lot): http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ciudadjuarez/231771/PDFs/packetk10412.pdf , and CDJ info: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Mexico&cty=Juarez

While waiting, besides reading through the instructions, also have a read through the reviews for Juarez. It can give you an idea of what to bring and how things work there: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Mexico&cty=&dfilter=5
