After over 2 months (April 18, 2012 NOA1 EAD) they didn't issue a biometrics appointment. After opening a service request 2 weeks ago, now they say that the letter was mailed but we still haven't received it. They said that they can only open another service request after 3 weeks so call back in 4-5 days. My question is if it is possible to request that the letter be emailed when I call again? We got the NOA1 without any issues but I am not sure why biometrics letter is not being delivered.

Bio letters are typically mailed out within 30 days after USCIS receives ur application. You should have called them to inquire about it if it's been over 30 days and you haven't received the letter. I went through the same thing, I was told my bio letter was mailed but I never received it and it wasn't return to USCIS as undeliverable so I think often times USCIS do make mistakes they just don't want to accept responsibility. If it has been over 2 months and they say it's already been mailed then you may already missed ur appointment. I would schedule an info pass at ur local office and tell them ur situation or call customer service and request to speak to a tier 2 rep. I don't think they can email you a bio letter I think you actually need the hard copy to bring with you to the appointment. I had to start over again all because I didn't received the bio letter so it's frustrating when it happens so I can sympathize with ur situation.

Just ask to speak to an ISO. Some of them are resistant to transfer you for some reason, but they cannot refuse your request, just keep asking to speak to tier 2. Tier 2 can tell you when the appointment is/was scheduled for, so you can tell if you have missed it or not.

okay transfer to a level 2 officer was simple. After 25 minutes on hold they were able to tell me the biometrics date which is July 16th. They said they only mailed the letter 4 days ago and if we don't receive it in one more week then call back and they will fax. Finally, it looks like this train is moving!!

that sounds good. and yeah calling them is nerve racking.cuz they talk and ask u all these question and it takes forever to speak to a trier 2 office. but yayayay u stayed in there and made it. so thats awesome. and good that they going to fax the letter to u.

just call the day they told u to call again go thru all the holds and call center ppl until u speak to a trier 2 again and then they going to fax u the letter tell u it can take like 2-4hours but they call u when they send the fax out to make sure u got it :) :)

The letter is sent once you are assigned a biometrics appointment. They are only scheduled when there is an available slot, so each office is different. You need to receive your NOA1 first, that will take about 10-14 days from the date they received the package. It could take a bit longer. Biometrics should be within about 30 days of the date on the NOA1. Remember that it will take 10-14 for a notice to get to you. If you haven't heard anything by about 40 days after your NOA1 date then call USCIS to check your letter didn't get lost in the mail.

You can't call USCIS before 30 days have passed from 6/23. Hopefully you will hear something soon but it isn't unusual if you don't hear something. Try not to worry about it too much for now. :)

Got the appointment letter on June 28 for Baltimore, MD. Did a walk-in biometrics this morning July 02 in Alexandria, VA (I work around the area). There were 12-15 people in line ahead of us when it opened. No questions asked we were in and out in about 15 minutes max.

The USCIS website is already updated to say "On July 2, 2012, we ordered production of your new card." (Is is very strange.. Updated so quickly [same day])

Also got the Travel Advance Parole in mail today. (USCIS website case is unchanged from initial stage)

Adjustment of Status (USCIS website case also updated to say that "File has been transferred" which was done like 1.5 months ago)

Random things happening but they are all good!! This is moving after 2 months of standstill.
