My mom just had her interview done a few weeks ago, and the officer gave her form N-652 (naturalization interview result). The form was checked on both "You passed the tests of english and U.S history and government."and "USCIS will send you a written decision about your application." I'm so glad that my mom passed her tests finally(that was her second time). But when i checked her status online, it said they had sent her a denial letter. I was like "No, #######!!" . Ok so today we got the letter, now they are saying that "she was unable to respond to the questions that the officer asked". If that was the case, The officer did not even have to check the "passed" box. Why the F.. did the officer check on "you passed....." This is so confused and the officer is driving us crazy!

Has anyone been through this before????? - Got a form saying that you passed the interview and all other tests and getting another letter saying that you failed and did not pass? Most ridiculous thing in the world.

Is it possible that she "passed the tests of english and U.S history and government" as was checked on the form, but was unable to answer some of the other interview questions the officer asked her?

Very sorry about the frustration--hopefully you can get a straight answer from them. It upsets me so much to see all the trouble people have to go through who are trying to play by the rules and immigrate legally!

I agree with this. Maybe your moms situation is similar to this : http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/345194-n-400-january-2012-filers/page__st__1035

my dad passed his test, mom didnt .. on the speech part. she said while the IO was going through her application and on those YES/NO parts she answered one wrong. Then the IO asked again, she answered right then. IO said she is weak in english speech and needs to be tested again. She was given the white paper with speech part checked on retest.

heymrdddj: My suggestion - Please call the USCIS customer service number and insist that you speak to a Tier 2 officer. That officer can give you a better answer to your question. Also that way your Mom can find out what she may have missed or inadvertently gave a wrong answer so she can correct it during her next interview. Instead of being upset, make the call and find out the correct reason.

Good Luck to you mother.
