So is there a difference with how people are treated by uscis or any other problems with immigration based on meeting through a marriage broker , pay to join and meet ladies as future spouse.? versus a chat site, ect...

Moved from K1 Process & Procedures to General Immigration-Related Discussion; meeting through "pay to join agency" vs. meeting through chat sites is not limited to one visa type in terms of how the relationship could be viewed.

**Organizer hat off**

Procedure wise, when filing an I-129F petition, if the petitioner met their fiance(e) through a marriage broker site, the petitioner must disclose that information (it's specifically asked on the form) whereas no such question appears on the I-130.

My answer to your question in the overall sense (meeting via agency vs. chat site) is an adjudicator at USCIS and a CO at the Embassy or Consulate will consider the totality of the circumstances surrounding the relationship and make a decision based on the evidence before them.

July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

It doesn't matter how you met. But you must have met in person within the last two years.

As a USC who has absolutely NO knowledge of these type of sites, can I ask why you went that route? Just curious what the benefit is to doing it that way vs just meeting someone...Is it finding someone marriage-minded, or because they are from a particular culture? Would love to hear your story, have always been curious about the marriage broker thing, and it's not much talked about here.

They don't really care HOW you met... they care that you have the physical evidence of an in-person meeting at least once during the last two years. But you really don't need to pay to find a spouse - there are plenty of places online to do it for free.

STAGE 1 - Applying for K1 (15 September 2003) to K1 Approval (13 July 2004) - 9 months, 29 days (303 days)

STAGE 2A - Arriving in US (4 Nov 2004) to AOS Application (16 April 2005) - 5 months, 13 days (164 days)

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

*N400 filed December 15, 2011

*Interview March 12, 2012

*Oath Ceremony March 23, 2012.
