It takes about 8-10 months for the entire process for an IR1/CR1 visa. The longest waiting period is for the I-130 processing. It took us a few days under 6 months to get our notice of approval. From there, the National Visa Center is a little bit faster.

Cost is $420 for your I-130

$230 for your IV application

$88 for the AOS

Plus any travel expenses you may incur during the process

I'm not sure about your tax transcripts or joint sponsor info. Maybe someone else will know a little bit more about that.

Good luck! Get ready for a long and frustrating wait!! :bonk:

You need to prove you can support your spouse at 125% of poverty level or above. Without proof of income and no joint sponsor, you're not going to get an approval. Why do you not have tax returns? Is it you've just lost the forms? You can request tax transcripts from the IRS that will do the trick. If you've been working under the table and not reporting income, yes you're going to have problems. No income, yes problems.

On top of what has already been posted, there is also the medical exam and any vaccinations that may be required. A minumum of $200 but may be as much as $500 for this depending upon what is determined at the medical exam. I have read some posts that even if they have a record of having the vaccinations that the applicant may have to have them again. They say plan for the worst and hope for the best. The below link goes through the costs of this in more detail.

Oh yes I completely missed that one. My husband's medical cost him $300. There is only one location in Ontario that he was able to go to and that was the standard fee, not covered by OHIP. Thankfully, he did not need any additional vaccinations or tests, but I have also read of a lot of folks requiring those. If extra vaccinations are needed, I recommend going elsewhere and then returning the records to the original place. It should work out a little cheaper.

Good lucK!

MY WIFE AND I JUST GOT APPROVED FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are talking about getting her ONE WAY ticket to come to Dallas now! It's amazing! Best $420 I will have ever spent. The process is a long one and it sucks. Longest wait is the I-130, like someone mentioned. After that, everything is done a little more quickly. We were lucky, we did not have one mistake! :)
