I haven't heard the $250 rumor. If it turns out to be true I'll be the proud owner of at least a dozen Garands.

Yeah, sign me up for one too.!

What would be the goal/aim of any law enforcement agency to encourage guns stores to sale guns to straw buyers, having absolutely no way to track those weapons, knowing those weapons would end up in the hands of hitmen, gang members and drug cartels?

How often does a criminal kill someone -- not just anyone, but a federal agent and leave not one, but two of the very weapons that are part of the crazy operation at the scene of the murder? Afterwards, said criminal would be unarmed and defenseless against other drug smugglers that rob and kill each other for drugs in that vast desert. Would even the stupidest criminal leave two weapons at the crime scene? :bonk:

If it really happened... how can it be a theory?

The lefty libtards and dems are killin me here. "Well, even though it happened... it didn't really happen and that's not what happened." ORLY?

Slim, a loony liberal is equivalent to a guy you invite to your house, while everyone is inside the kitchen, he goes out to the backyard to see the new pool and falls in, everyone hears the loud splash. He comes back inside all wet, yet tries to convince everyone that he didn't fall in and that loud splash really wasn't a splash.

Since no one saw him fall in the pool, that means it really didn't happen.

I did forget about the issue regarding the garands as well. I noticed they are allowed to import them now though (but not the carbines). So will they be going through the CMP or private dealers? Because I heard a rumor that could be as low as 250USD (where as the CMP charges 600+)

the latest round of rumors were for import from korea.

it's not going to go through the CMP. they do not purchase or import. uncle sam furnishes the M1 to CMP per their charter. CMP profits are for promoting firearms safety and marksmanship training.

some importer will get the rumored korean garands and sell with appropriate import marks. the importer will simply pocket the profits.

slim/ dano ...are you indicating you don't have an M1 yet :o

I thought CMP received Garands in the past from a few other countries? Either way there running low these days.

I thought CMP received Garands in the past from a few other countries? Either way there running low these days.

the danish, greek, bavarian, etc rifles were returned by those countries to the us army (us government) which in turn sent the rifles to DCM now CMP.

the rifles were not "imported" by CMP.

yes CMP inventory is not what it once was.

try getting a complete military .22 target rifle. the M12, M44, M541x, kimber 82g, Win 52, Rem 40x, etc, etc, are all gone from cmp.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I do not.

I'm always hesitant to get into another caliber. Even a CMP Garand would run me the better part of $5,000 because by the time it was all said and done I'd have a half-dozen of them and a mountain of ammo and accessories.

As it stands, I'm making a go of it with my poodle shooter. I've recently made the decision to acquire one platform in each the "common" calibers (just in case the zombies leave some of their ammo on my doorstep) and the M-1 is on the list. Not just to knock out .30cal but because of the historical significance as well. There's no reason I shouldn't own a United States Rifle, caliber .30, Model 1. Especially with Appleseeding so much, and living "close" to the CMP North store (and Perry) I'm running out of reasons to NOT have one.

the poodle shooters do a nice job. had a really nice one i used for hi-pwr matches that i sold back in the awb days for a tidy profit (another shooter wanted it really bad cause it was pre-ban). since i also had the M1, i simply recycled the funds into something that "shoots today and kills tomorrow" (aka 130 yr old design). figured anytime i wanted to shoot hi-pwr i could always use the M1 since had/ still have a nice stockpile of loaded LC ammo.

looks like i'll be utilizing the ohio "garand exemption" later this month and taking the M1 shooting in northern ohio. it's going to work out pretty well that i won't need to ship ammo. i'll just visit the north store (about 20 minutes away from where i'll be) and get some hxp ... just gotta remember to pack some en blocs when i leave for ohio ....

Yeah, don't drive through here with loaded mags. So silly, our Ohio laws. You can have enblocs on the sling.... but no loaded box mags. Those are too dangerous.

A buddy of mine has been utilizing the SKS as his "trunk gun" since strippers are also exempt. I've circumvented the whole process by simply carrying a Draco pistol on my CHL. Nothing says "safe" like a fully-loaded AK-47 on the seat next to me. Politicians love that!

it is weird. there again ... who ever said camp perry tourist $$$$ don't talk .....

kinda gives another meaning to an old poster ... "the M1 does my talking!"

haven't decided on the other item to bring. it's either going to be a single shot or the m44 ... and since there aren't that many buffalo in northern ohio ....i'm leaning toward the m44.

either way we are shooting the old fashioned way ... with iron sights.

I gotta get up to Perry one of these days. I haven't been there yet and I've been told I'm skilled enough to do pretty well. (At least in the leg matches!)

just keep getting some good trigger time and experience at the local matches ... and go. heck if your number was up tomorrow would you regret not going?

note: the big camp perry matches are july/aug ... stop by and check out your competition.

complete/ gather/ submit your paperwork to cmp. this way when you visit camp perry to view the matches you can also stop at the store.

i can hear you now when you return home .... "honey it followed me home ... can i keep it .... i'll even feed and clean up after it ... )

i'm finally getting more trigger time now that the twins are older. it's still nowhere near my pre-texas/ cr-1 days yet i'm not going to complain.

fortunately i have an understanding wife (her mother even encourages my wife to let me go shooting if it makes me happy ... gotta love the mil :luv: )

That's exactly what happened.

So you expect that some time in the next 5 years a guy in a suit (obviously a **) is going to knock on your door and ask for all your guns?

I mean how do you picture it happening. I want to take a glimpse into your (paranoid) brain.

Will you have a certain amount of time to surrender your weapons or a swat team will kick down your door?

Will agents go door to door? How does this delusional event take place? Where will the 300 million guns owned by Americans go?

India, gun buyback and steamroll.
