Wow... you just had the green card when you left and when you re-entered? Didn't know that was possible. That's pretty handy to know for the future (seemingly far far away) when I actually get a green card! Thanks for the info. :)

yes, just the green card both ways. They didn't bat an eye. They just looked at it and handed it back to me..

I'm just curious though, for those that just use a greencard (and say you don't have a passport with you at all) what happens if you have to fly back in an emergency?

Or, even if you live in the US and had an emergency in Canada and had to get on the next plane back? Then what's the plan?

As a non-US citizen, I just think it's important to have my Canadian passport just in case I need it. 99.9% chance I won't need it unless I have a trip planned, but I guess I see it as insurance.
