Hi DragonFly, thanks for the information. i have another question now, you know once we got the petition approval letter, is that we have to wait for the " K package" then only can do all the application? i called to the embassy and they asked me to wait for the package 1st before doing all the things, as the package will let you know what to do..is that true? so should i wait 1st or proceed to do the certificate of good conduct?

Hi Kwan. I'm afraid I cannot understand what you're asking but I am guessing that you are applying for the K1? Go to specific threads and they may be able to assist you further there. I have no knowledge with the K1 application.

AND pls do fill in your timeline and other details before you ask questions on the thread. People who can help you will be able to clear your doubts more effectively if they know what you're applying for and where you are at the moment.

Good luck in your search and hunt for answers to your doubt!

One year.

HI Dragonfly928, i think your answer is wrong..for certificate of good conduct it can be use for 3months only from the date stated in the cert..After 3months,you need to apply again. So, you need to plan very well when you need apply and when you need to use it because it will make your process slower if u didnt plan it and i already have that experience :)

HI everyone

just thought I'd share

I spoke to a lady at the consular section at the us embassy KL and was told that they accept the COGC as long as it was done in the last one year. Mine expires end of Aug (i got them aug 2012) and she said that'd be fine as my interview date is on Aug 1.

I told her about the 3 months validity, she said it wouldn't be a problem. However, pls pls pls confirm with them as this might not be the case when you're going for your interview. I would imagine it will be accepted as long as it's not over 1 year old. Cheers!

Hi everyone - has anyone on here (or someone they know) previously renounced Malaysian citizenship and then ordered the Certificate of Good Conduct afterward?

My fiance obtained NZ citizenship and needs to renounce his Malaysian citizenship, but is worried that he cannot get the police cert - his Malaysian passport expires in 5 months and the online website to order it will not allow passport with less than 6 months validity. So he can't order the stupid thing online and no one will help him (either in Putrajaya or here at the consulate in Melbourne) in sorting out how to get it.

We were told he should use his NZ passport number and apply as a foreigner, but he never lived in Malaysia as a foreigner or had a visa/permit as a foreigner.

We're hoping that he can apply under the NZ passport and simply include certified copies of the old MY passport and IC card.

Any advice?

I'd suggest sending it in as a foreigner but including both his Msian and NZ passport biographic page.

Hello,

I need some help here regarding the Malaysia certificate of good conduct.I have submitted my application on 09 July 2013, according to the experienced from the previous applicants that I found online, they said that there were documents to submit along with the application. But they didn't ask for any documents except my passport picture when I filled it out online.I have called the foreign affairs putera jaya in kota kinabalu asking about that and they said there is no need to submit any documents to their office effective from 02 July 2013.Please let me know if anybody have experienced the same, and what is the fastest time to obtain it.I guess I'm just being paranoid but I don't want to get delay for my k1 visa interview as it's the only document I need from the checklist to schedule the interview.my petition will expired on 02 sept 2013, the embassy said it can be extended but I'm still worry.

Please help.Thank you.

From info I gathered from here, that seems to be the case. I dont think you have anything to worry about. When I applied, I had to submit copies of passport biographic page etc but that seems to no longer apply.

I quote:

Via postal service, applicant is required to submit to the Consular Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia (including Sabah and Sarawak ranch office) or to the Malaysian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate General abroad, the following:

a. Application Acknowledgement Slip;

b. Bank Draft/Postal Order of or equivalent to Ringgit Malaysia Twenty Only (RM20) [Payable to: Akauntan Negara Malaysia (for payment made within Malaysia) or payable to the Malaysian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate General abroad. Please contact our local or overseas offices for further information on payment]; and

c. An A4 size self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage.

Thanks for that, we will give it a try and see how things go!

I also wonder if anybody has been able to order the police certificate before getting the letter from the US Consulate requesting it? Just in the interest of trying to be prepared ahead with everything. I noticed the US website does have a page that has the letter's contents and was hoping that would be sufficient, hehe...

if you are talking about the cert of good conduct, that should not be a problem as I applied for mine before we even sent our petition hehe The cert expires in Aug this year and the embassy staff said that should not be a problem as it has a one year validity. I was very relieved as another Msian vjer said min of foreign affairs staff had told em it's only valid for three months. Most ppl apply for it once you get your NOA2 but I was planning to travel so I applied earlier just in case. It takes abt 2 months to be approved then so a lot of ppl apply for it earlier n don't wait for letter Fr embassy. How long it takes to process now, I'm not sure but it could be shorter now as they did make some changes to how you apply.
