Okay....here I am again! :clock: Time is wasting, I'm at the NVC stage and things are hitting me pretty fast. So here is my latest catch-22!

I got married in February 2012 during my last trip to Nigeria. I have a mulitple entry visa in this passport that is STILL VALID!

My name is changed on everything but my passport, including my back records. So when I go to purchase my airline ticket...it is going to reflect my "new" last name per my debit card/credit card...and my passport is going to have my maiden name!

If I pay to update my passport (and yes, it is older than a year)...then I will lose my Nigerian Visa also and will not only have to pay for a new passport ($110) but also a new visa (which has gone up to $160) OUCH to my pocketbook!

Has anyone else been in this situation and what should I do? I don't want to have to spend th extra money right now if I don't absolutely have too!

This issue of maiden name keeps coming up often. I wonder why VJ doesn't pin a a topic about maiden name vis a vis tickets, passport, GC, et al.

To address your concern, a marriage certificate is all you need to carry along [to accompany your passport and GC] when traveling - as an explanation for the different names. Getting a certified copy of the marriage certificate costs much MUCH much less than you stated you would spend to address this issue.

This should give you breathing space until your pocket is healthy enough to get a new passport and visa for Naija.

You're the best and I feel like I can finally breathe! I have a certified copy wher I registered our marriage certificate with our state (Alabama) court house. It has the raised seal, registration number and a color copy of our marraige certificate. Should that work? My original is on it's way to the NVC! And I'm flying back for my husbands interview.

You sent the ORIGINAL to NVC? Not sure if they require one to do that [sending them the original], or if they will return it.

The certified copy you have is going to work perfectly for the purpose aforediscussed.

Have fun and enjoy the rest of your Visa Journey.

All I can say is GOD IS GOOD...ALLLLLLL THE TIME! It is quite amazing and I'm very thankful and overjoyed! (and I've almost got all of the closets, dresser drawers, etc. cleaned out too!...thanks to the nervous energy and wait times!)

Now for more paperwork! Let the NVC send the invoices and let the interview be lined up so I can get an airline ticket while the prices are down! Thank you Lord in advance!!!

Thank you for the additional information! I'm like a sponge...soaking it all up!
