My fiancee and I are planning on getting Married May 17th 2013. My Interview is going to be scheduled sometime in September 2012. I know that the visa paperwork you have 6 months to enter the USA and submit this paperwork and then have 3 months to get married when entering with the K-1 Visa. I'm wondering, once I have my interview (and hopefully pass!), can I enter the USA without submitting my K-1 papers and enter as a B-1/2 tourist?? I would like to do this so I can still visit her and plan our wedding before starting the 3 month countdown until the wedding.

I am entering from Vancouver Canada.

Any help would be appriciated!

Cheers

Unlikely (although because you probably would come over land it may work). Your K-1 visa is attached to the passport so they will see it when you enter. Better to visit just before the interview.

There's something I don't get: Have you started the K-1 process yet? If yes, please update your profile/timeline. If yes again, at which stage are you?

BTW, you can get civilly married, so the requirement of getting married in the 90 days after entering the US is accomplished, and then have your wedding with family and friend at a later date.
