My wife's GC expired 6/8 and I filed i751 on 6/1.

We want to take a cruise on 7/4 and since her GC expires on 6/8 we have an issue.

I understand it can take 90 days or more to get a i751 approved so I can expect to be sent a NOA letter that she can use along with her expired GC right?

Does anyone know how long that NOA letter takes receive? We are getting kinda worried...

Some have suggested getting a i551 stamp in her passport but is that really necessary and doesn't it cost something like 1010?

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Depend on which center ROC is taking 6 months to a year or more after filing. The letter usually arrives in about 45 days. Does your wife have any need for visas at the countries the cruise will be visiting ? Many times if you make an infopass appointment you can get the stamp but you may not find an open appointment this late in the game.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

We will be visiting countries that do not require visas - it is just leaving the country and reentering that is the issue. We did get an infopass appointment actually tomorrow. THe stamp you are talking about, is that the i551 stamp? DOes it really cost like 1010.00 to get that stamp?

No, the stamp is free. They may tell you to wait 30 days for the letter to come from filing, though, and come back if no word.

when you file your 1-751 your get a receipt 797 noa-1 that the 1-751 was received it should say you have a one year extension, if so the yes you can traval with that letter internationaly bring with you the expired green card and the one year extension letter.in about a month later you should be getting another letter to have your biometrics asc appointment. or you can try a info pass for a 551 stamp. good luck.
