The President has had deferred action powers since 1992. All he can really do is grant a stay on deportation, which does not grant permanent residency or citizenship. Like it or not, the Legislative branch is the one who gave him this power.

The Supreme Court is interestingly still majority conservative, but at least not all of them are nuts like you. The Constitution is the reason why most of the Arizona law was struck down.

So since you disagree with the majority on the supreme court they are nuts. Typical liberal.

I wonder if Scalia has an opinion on the GOP senate members who "misused" the filibuster at an unprecedented rate in an attempt to prevent any legislation from passing at all. If legislators had not outright refused to legislate, we wouldn't even have many of these cases in front of the supreme court to begin with.

How come a liberal can never defend an action on it's merits but always has to defend it by pointing out what someone else did. I am surprised you did not "blame it on BusH" which is your elements answer to everything Obama has meesed up.

Especially after you start a topic alleging Obama is a dictator, one of the most moronic titles I've ever seen posted here. With a spouse from the Phillipines, you should at least have some second hand knowledge of what a dictator is. I do, and here's a hint - you wouldn't be posting topics like this on an internet forum that allows free speech if the USA was run by a dictator.

The filibuster is a matter of the rules of the Senate. It's not a matter of Constitutional law. If Senate Democrats could propose something that even a handful of Senate Republicans could get behind then they'd have enough votes for cloture, and they could end debate and bring the matter to a vote. As long as Senate Democrats keep pushing the President's liberal agenda you won't see any cooperation from Senate Republicans.

If you're expecting the Republicans to be the first ones to extend the olive branch then that's never going to happen. Not after the way the Democrats dodged debate on the health care bill in the Senate by sending the House a bill that they'd rammed through before Kennedy died, and then the House pushed the bill through with a series of back room deals and the understanding that later amendments would be attached to a separate budget bill using the "reconciliation" process that limited debate to 20 hours; i.e., no chance of a filibuster. The whole process was so distasteful that even 34 Democrats in the House couldn't bring themselves to vote for it. That single act, more than anything else, cost the Democrats control of the House in 2010. We'll find out on Thursday if the whole fiasco was worth it.
