following final interview

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I filed for her visa in January, 2012. It has felt like an eternity, but we finally received our NOA2 last Saturday! Anyway, until now we have felt as though we were in limbo. Without any specific dates or even good estimations to work with, we have not really been able to make arrangements in our personal life, i.e. house, job, work, etc.

My question is this... following the final interview (assuming all goes smoothly and the visa is granted) is there a certain amount of time that my wife will have to wrap up her business in China before coming to the America? Or is she expected to drop everything and jump on the first plane out? It would be wonderful if the latter was practical but she needs to make arrangements with the university she teaches at, as well as finishing and finding tenants for our new apartment (among other things). Because it had been impossible to make these arrangements without having some relatively concrete sense "when" things would happen, we now find ourselves in a mad dash to get it all done. I am just concerned that it may not be possible to do it all before the final interview. If she needs to stay a little longer, what are the rules? How much time would we have?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Shorttime

Visa? Interview in Guangzhou? Typically 6 months after interview date if no medical issues, to first step foot into the USA.

If you are chasing a CR-1 or IR-1 visa at the moment, please consider to OPT IN for NVC Electronic Filing, once yer casefile hits the door at NVC.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
