Um, no offense, but why one earth would you say something as ignorant as 'all people from the Philippines get approved easily and fast'.

Clearly you have NO idea what you are talking about. They get approved no faster than most other countries. And there are plenty of stories on here of people being denied from the Philippines.

You appear to be from Brazil, so what makes you think you know anything about the Philippines.

And you're telling him he won't have any problems even though he has basically NO evidence of having spent time together.

Sigh. Why even bother posting if you have no clue what you're posting about.

thank you for all of your input. To be more specific, we are at the stage where she is to contact the US Embassy to make an appointment. It all seems so stupid now, but I just don't have a picture of us together. I took quite a few of her.

Send what you have. Do you have any of you in the same place as those photos you took of her? Send those.

To make matters more complex, my jealous ex-gf destroyed my passport.

No comment......why is the ex-gf allowed access to your passport???? Are you really ready to marry this other woman?

Sri.....I said no comment!

So a stamped passport is not available.

Wow

Although I have my credit card statement that shows I bought the ticket there,

Send that.

I do not have the boarding pass or any other documentation of the plane ticket itself.

Wow again!

I have sent her money via xoom about 10x over this period of time.

This is generally not advised....could be construed as buying her.

As international phone calls are very expensive, we do not use phones.

My Cloncom international calling card costs about $50 a month. That is not expensive....if it is to you, then international relationships and immigration of a fiance to here is not for you....at least until you get better income.

We speak every night using Skype.

Send those chat logs and take snapshot photos of each other using Skype and print those out.

I am wondering, is it reasonable to see if the visa gets approved? Or, if it is not approved, will things be more complicated to get approved later?

Yes, maybe.

May I ask what RFE stands for? I am starting to think that it may be best for me to go back again.

thanks again.

Draft up a letter giving a timeline of your relationship and reference any and all evidence of the meeting and your ongoing relationship.

what about emails? Get busy on generating different types of evidences......what you list as having is kind of weak.

There seems to be quite a divide on opinions on this matter. When we met, we were not too serious at first. The relationship became serious later on as we got to know each other better. Had I been thinking of marriage at the time, I would have looked into what might have been required. Actually, now that I think about it, I have a copy of my work travel expenses also. One of which should be the plane ticket. As far as the ex-gf is concerned, yes you are correct, extreme behavior to say the least. She came into my home without my permission and destroyed it. I would actually like to go back there as I have not yet met her family. I searched again on orbitz and I now see airfare for under $2k. As I don't want to risk it being denied, I think I will do my best to get time off of work and go back there. Once she is here and we marry, are there substantial expenses involved in the future? It is my understanding that she will need to file for permanent residency.

thank you all again and wishing you all happiness in your relationships,

If you can only make one trip then make it at the same time as her interview. It will help if you can attend the interview with her. Try to arrive a week or two early (if possible) and get some photos together. In the meantime, spend as much time as possible filling her in on every detail of your life. She should be able to answer any question they throw at her - where do you work, what do you do, how much do you earn, who are your friends, what are your family member's names, where do they live, what is your home or apartment like, what kind of car do you drive, what are your hobbies, etc. etc.

After she arrives in the US and you get married then she'll need to apply for her green card. The process is called adjustment of status. It's going to cost $1070. There is a guide (see the Guides link at the top of the page) explaining what documents you'll need. There is also an "Adjustment of Status from Family Based Visas" forum here for advice.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Once she arrives in the U.S., she will not be able to work for about six months, assuming you get married and file the adjustment of status documents right away. If you file the adjustment of status, advance parole (gives the ability to leave the U.S. and re-enter), and employment authorization document (EAD) together, the cost is $1070. If she needs any vaccinations that weren't done before receiving the visa, that will be an additional cost. Then there's clothing, food, transportation costs, insurance (health/life/auto), etc... That's just the start until you get to removal of conditions and then the naturalization process.

Just to clarify, I do have a decent paying job at about $65k a year. Just lots of bills to cope with. Initially, I sent in the I-129F and included the suggested items listed on VJ. I got a reply requesting a birth cert, passport photos and divorce papers. Once those were provided, it was quickly approved. However, the CO during her interview may want her to prove things all over again. The $1070 fee and supporting her should not be a problem for me.

thanks again,
