So... are any of you currently in Florida/in the path of the tropical storm? Care to share your experiences?

My fiance is from Seminole (where they received 10 inches of rain last night!) and he swears that Floridians don't worry about anything less than a category 3 hurricane... but I'm seriously stressed out right now! LOL. All I can do here in Toronto is sit and look at Bay News 9, CNN and other fear-mongering news sites... and it's making me crazy!

Anyone else out there worried about this?

We live in Panama City, FL and like your fiance says do not worry at all. We have some hard wind gusts and lots of rain. It is more exciting than scary :) We finally get some much needed rain to make the grass grow! Only downside is we can't go to the beach right now. Don't worry. He's fine!

Hahaha... you know, if I was there, I'm sure I'd be fine, and probably out there with a camera (I'm an amateur photographer LOL)... but being so far away from him, I just feel so helpless! LOL - my future father-in-law is actually pissed because it means that he'll have to cut the grass next weekend :P

Ohhh, you Floridians... :)

I hear ya... I love sleeping while it's raining/thundering out. I sure hope this rain passes through soon though! There's only so much I can take (and I'm not even there!)

LOL, I'm guessing that it's one of those things that I just won't "get" until I go through it myself ;)

I don't really agree with that. I consider myself a Floridian and when there are tornado warnings posting one right after another, and news telling people to take cover due to rotation in your 'hood - even a tropical storm can be stressful and at times scary. Not to mention there was a fatality associated with this storm. Thigh high waters in streets isn't exactly fun or low stress when you can't get home. Watching the news can absolutely make you crazy, but it can also prepare you for what is going on out there.

That's how *I* feel!!! My fiance and friends down there all say that business must go on as usual though... they've been going to work and being cautious (ie not driving through waterlogged roads) but not really doing much else out of the ordinary. Freaks me out!
