Hello All!

I came to the US as a green card holder when I was 14 and finally got my citizenship this year. At the moment, I am completing the I-130 petition for my lovely husband. The I-130, I-485 and G-325A forms are asking for my Alien Registration Number. I know this could be found on my green card but I have spent days already looking for it but no luck. I must've misplaced it when I moved in with him.

Could anyone tell me if A# is really important to put even though I'm already a citizen?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!

September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!

April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Did you try looking on your naturalization certificate? it should be on there.

You also need to include the number of your naturalization certificate and a copy of it with the petition.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

If you're a citizen your A# no longer applies. It would be relevant if you were still a LPR. Your application is based on your being a US citizen.

I do have my certificate of naturalization and will submit a copy of it but I wasn't sure if the number on this is the same as my Alien Registration # on my green card.

If it's the same number, then I guess I have no problem then. Sorry for the ignorant question as my husband and I doesn't have any legal advice.

Either that or a copy of the (US) passport, so long as it is still valid should be able to prove citizenship.

If they are requesting it, I would provide it. I ran into the same problem when I was filing the K-1 visa for my hobby. I made an appointment via the infoPass and they were able to look it up and provide both my A- number and the number for my naturalization( which I still can't find).

July of 2010: We met in Eritrean when I was on vacation.

August of 2010: Returned to U.S and we spoke on the phone everyday and still do (very costly).

December of 2010 to January 2011: went back to Eritrea to see him.

January 11, 2011- Engaged.

March 2, 2011: I-129F sent

March 13, 2012: Second interview. Placed on Administrative Processing.

October 16, 2012: Case sent back to USCIS

November 16, 2012 Case reaffirmed and sent back to the Department of State (according to the USCIS SITE)

November 28, 2012 Vermont Service Center received Petition back from Embassy.

March 2013- Returned K1 validity expired. Here we go again.... !

You are already a US Citizen, not an Alien. You do not need the A# - leave it blank.

Actually, she should put it. The A# stays with the person even after they are naturalized (even though they are no longer an alien). Putting it will help USCIS locate the former alien's A file, which will contain all of her information regarding naturalization. USCIS doesn't throw out the A file when you're naturalized.

It should be on your naturalization certificate. The certificate has two numbers, your A# and your Certificate number, and putting them will help USCIS confirm your citizenship (in addition to including a copy of the certificate).

I was searching for need for naturalization certificate and this came up.

My questions:

My wife is USC and have US passport. She was unable to locate her naturalization certificate. :bonk:

For I-130, whether she need to provide copy of naturalization certificate (have to ?) OR copy of US passport will do?

Where we can locate her A#, if needed?

How we can obtain copy of naturalization certificate for her?
