Hi there! I need some help about this process of bringing stepchild here in the US. I appreciate if somebody can walk me through this, we already have all the documents they asked for I-130, but we just want to make sure that we are not forgetting anything (I-130, Petition for Alien Relative form, G-1145, E-Notification, my husband's passport and birth certificate, divorce paper, our marriage certificate, my son birth certificate and we also include pictures of us all together and my birth certificate as well). We are planning to mail the documents this week. And what is the time frame for this process? One more thing, any documents that my son needs to prepare in his end while he is waiting (he is 13 yrs old)?

Thank you so much for the help and MABUHAY! :D

Hi! Thanks for the link. I am living here in Michigan for 1 year and 5 mos. now and a green card holder. We are now in the process of getting my son and the petitioner is my husband. We already mailed his papers today at Chicago Lockbox. Now waiting time comes...LOL!

Wishing you all the best in this journey!!! A couple of questions, what documentation did you submit with the packkage? Did you include a letter from the other birth parent of the minor-child that stated the child has thier permission to move here to the US? Do you have a sample , as I am trying to put one together and would love to know what information others have included.

Also, did you include proof of relationship between your child and thier step-parent with the 130? If you did, what kinds of items did you include?

Hi! I am a single mom before I married my husband now, in that case I don't need a letter from his father and the fact that my son didn't really meet his father and he is carrying my name in his birth certificate. Much easier for us. Documents I submitted is my husband proof of citizenship which is passport and birth certificate, his divorce paper from previous marriage, our marriage certificate, my son birth certificate and baptismal, I also included my birth certificate and some pictures of us all together, and of course the payment of 420. Hope that this will help you.....Goodluck to both of us!

Hello, butting in here. My process was a bit different from yours as we went DCF for my husband and stepson's I-visas. But we as far as consent from the other parent, we just put a basic form together saying I, ____(the other parent), gives permission for____(the child) to move to the USA with _________ (you and other parent) You can make it more official if you want to, but the important thing is that it is notorized by the police (or perhaps a notary public, depending on the country)

Hope that helps.

A NOA1 is just a receipt for your payment. A RFE is something else (Request For Evidence)which you will get for your son. The US has a lot of laws protecting children from foreign abduction. So you will need that letter from your ex giving his son permission to move and immigrate to the US.

Hello again! We received NOA1 yesterday and it doesn't say anything what to do next or what to submit. What are we expecting next or what is the next step after receiving the NOA1? Thanks for the help in advance.:)
