Did you go back and read what he said originally? He is picking on New Orleans because he thinks I live there. He thinks New Orleans only suffered flooding from the levees and doesn't understand anything about hurricanes or what damage they cause. He has already asserted in other threads that the entire south is "illiterate" and "lives on welfare". The comment about looting is linked to that. Are you saying you agree with this?

Actually it's dykes and levees and yes a Dutch team did come in and show how New Orleans was vulnerable to a flood/hurricane what have you.

What's the percentage of the Netherlands that's below sea level and when is the last time they had a major flood and then proceeded to loot all the nearby shops?

In my opinion, the ongoing tensions twixt south and north demonstrate yet another example of a failure of multiculturalism

My wife needed her Mississippi dad to get her past the PO-leese down there and had to have elocution lessons when the family moved to Wiscarnsin

One need only look at the stats on literacy, hep C, poverty,teenage pregnancy, numeracy, college grads, the crime rate,cousin marriage, marriage age State Laws, etc etc etc to know what the deal is South of the Mason Dixon line

I used to work out of rural Georgia and my wife's family are from Mississippi / Arkansas (shhhhh she is related to Bill C and her dad palled up with Elvis!) so I have input in addition to MSNBC

You're quite right. I just think it's naive to assume everyone here is on welfare, looted during Katrina and is illiterate. Especially when I have to point out the difference between your/you're their/they're/there its/it's.

The difference in what you said and what was said by this inexperienced troll is that you are familiar with what you are talking about. Spouting out random opinions that you got from watching the news once isn't the same as having family from the south and actually understanding how things are here. You demonstrated that you "understand" the south when you said the quarter has no bathrooms. No doubt you probably know that the really nutty patriotic southerners fly the rebel flag and not the American flag, as I had to point out before. I thought that was common knowledge, oh well.

Some people in these parts have running water in their homes, aren't married to their cousins, don't believe in god, aren't republican and some of them own a pair of their own shoes! I know the last one is a shocker! Some people have been known to mow their lawns without their one pair of shoes on though.

Strangely enough, I think the USA has parallel cultures and they seem to work compared to the alternative.

The Black Community has it's own accents and dialects (let me axe you a question )and indeed their own names eg "Shaneaquah". Anyone who doesn't recognize that should tune to MSNBC and try to listen to Al Sharpton.

As a black woman born and raised in the United States the Black Community does not have accents or dialects. What you stated above is just improper grammar. The only people who usually have accents of black skin color are usually from other countries unless they are from various regions in the US. AS for as the names again I think that is a preference (might I add a bad preference). It is being associated with all blacks or African Americans which is not true or fair. We could say a vast majority of Caucassians are illiterate and live in trailor parks and name there children Bob, Sue, Jane, etc., but why would want to generalize an entire group for just a few. Just my thoughts.

So although Americans all make the pledge of allegiance to the flag every morning in school (something that would be seen as totalitarian nazism in Britain), the fact is that the USA is a collection of parallel cultures who have agreed to live side by side and call themselves Americans and that is why the flag and the constitution are raised to be holy icons - its the only thing that keeps them from fragmenting into dozens of different countries.
