Like what?

all are nominally:

christian

white

ethnically european

and have inhabited the same area of western europe for thousands of years

My dialect, when I chose to speak it, is 50% Danish with admixtures of anglo-saxon and Norman French and I have celtic ancestors from Ireland and Wales.

My ex wife's family are descended from a French prisoner of the Napoleonic wars and bear his name

Many Italian prisoners of war from WW2 refused to go home and mixed into the Welsh population

The Romans sent large armies of mercenaries - Poles/Germans etc to hold England - and most of them stayed and settled

Remember that England was under 1 mile of ice only 10k years ago - so all the people have arrived from Europe since then

Now compare all that to the history of an African bushman and you will appreciate the ethnic differences are bound to be greater

Seeing how you have a UK flag under your moniker you might as well learn something of that country, it's neighbors and it's history. First off English is a Germanic based language that comes from Frisian which is also a Germanic language. Saxons, Frisians, Angles, Franks (whom France gets it's name from), Alemeni, Burgundians, Norwegians, Danes...all related and other than France all use a Germanic based language.

Dane Law which came from the Danes was in England. York is an example of a once Danish territory. Kings and Queens of Scotland from Norway as in Orkney via Norway. King George...German who didn't speak English yet was King of England. Now take a look at architecture in regards to those countries. Very similar. Northern Europeans all have ties with one another going back two thousand years or more.

English laws have Nordic roots. Even some of the days of the week go back to Germanic languages. Wednesday = Wodens Day. Tuesday = Tue's Day as in Tues the Germanic god.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

It's hard for me to read beyond your spelling of "it's" and take you seriously. I speak German and Dutch and have lived in Holland, so no need for that part. I'm also familiar with Jorvik. I disagree on the architecture part. Are you saying that America and the UK share similar "bonds" because they speak the same language?

I was mostly just baiting Bad_Daddy. :P I agree with you, although there are differences in Christianity, Catholics vs Protestants, Huguenots etc. I don't think there is a culture of "Europe" as is being claimed. Each country is very different.

You missed the point entirely. Of course their are differences. Look at the Southern part of the US and it's architecture ... that most Southerners never did grasp the English language when spoken compared to New England or even the Northwest. Different yet very similar and that's all under one flag mind you.

Now drive through a village in England, drive through a village in Norway, Holland, and then through Germany. I'm not talking cities mind you, but small villages with some history. Look at the "beam and stone" architecture.

For someone who lived in Holland and has traveled Western Europe I'm surprised most of this is new to you.

My yanky wife has red hair. I told her that we would be driving through the ex-Danelaw from North Yorkshire through to Scarborough on the East coast. I told her that the red hair gene arose in Denmark more than a thousand years ago. She was amazed at how many of the kids in the streets of East Yorkshire had red hair.

Na sithee - look sharp and have a gawk > This as what is lost by a dilution from the Khyber Pass. 1,500 years of history gone in two generations.

It's where the Irish and Scots get their red hair also. Dublin and Limerick were both Danish cities and the Danes held a big chunk of Ireland until after year 1000 AD when Brian Boru united the Irish tribes to push the Danes out of Ireland. Same with Scotland. The Orkney Isles and Scottish Hebrides were under control of Norway for hundreds of years. The name "jarl" which we get "earl" from is Nordic based. Danish Jarls evolved to English Earls. Same with the Scots and the Norwegians.

This isn't new to me at all. I'm just curious what your point was. :)

The south is nothing like the north, that is very true. Just so you know, if you ask a patriotic southerner which flag they fly, their answer will be the rebel flag, not the American flag.

You are absolutely right.... and even with those minor differences, history has been full of clash and bloodshed.

When you try to do what have never been done, -integrate radically different culture ALL ON THE SAME SOCIAL PLAIN into one cohesive nation of people, ... that is a lot to hope for.

And if it begins to unravel... how do you deal with that?

Yet the US military gets a large chunk of it's recruits from the south. Nothing much good ever came from the south. Last to ban slavery and then later on blamed the feds over Katrina relief when they couldn't even heed the warnings from others like the Dutch in regards to New Orleans and it's dykes and levee's.

The point I keep coming back to is that this is all comparative

The cultural difference between a German and an English person is NOTHING compared to the difference between either of them and an Australian Aborigine or a Chinese peasant

Ask a returning US soldier about who's culture he felt closer to - a British/French/German soldier he got drunk with, or an Afghan goat herder

My main point is that the whites in the US have had it all their own way for 500 years and of course they think multiculturalism works (and that's all because of the divinely inspired Constitution).

Meanwhile everyone else has had a bloody awful time - being bought and sold and used and abused

So when the 'others' get the whip hand, things with be different ...

I would - wouldn't you ?

I absolutely agree with you. It's the same way Theresa May thinks she is culturally accepting, it's totally detached from reality.

Please stop insulting where I live, thank you. Clearly you have never lived here and have no clue about it at all. If you knew anything about Katrina you would realize New Orleans and the levees were only a small part of it. You think levees broke and that was it?

Here's something else to think about. 3rd World countries that are 3rd World because of their culture, are going to make for 3rd World immigrants to advanced countries that are advanced for the fact their culture allows them to be and actually stimulates productivity along with modern advancement. So when you get things like Sharia Law in a modern and civilized country what do you end up with in the future?
