Hi Guys!

This is only in the Philippines...I'm the beneficiary, i just wanna ask if it's ok to get NBI clearance as early i can? Just got our NOA1 this June...The clearance has 1 year expiration so i'm thinking of getting one coz im sure it wont take a year to get a result on our application and i want to prepare earlier the necessary documents needed also to avoid delays and cramming...Or i need to wait until we got the approval before getting it?

Did they require a very recent clearance or just fine as long as its not expired?

Thanks!

I suggest to get NBI after you receive the NOA2, or in the mid process of your NVC cuz its really easy to get and besides if no same name

NBI can be release on the same day and it will take 2-3weeks for clearing if you got same name.

it may have a 1 year validity but your process of NOA2 or NVC might take time.. so its better if its new.

Hi Kat and Brett,

I took some time off today to process my NBI Clearance at Robinson's Mall in Ortigas. It would be best if you process your required documents as early as now to avoid cramming since it would take a year for it to expire. Altho it took me 4years to renew it and 4mos from the time we sent in our I-129, but I'm glad I had today to take care of it :) I had a "hit" tho, so got to wait another 10 business days for me to get my copy. :crying: I need to go back on July 9th to get it.

Oh and tips for you btw..Wherever you plan to get your NBI Clearance, make sure that you arrive their as early as 5am. Lots of people have been waiting on the line when I got there. You don't want to come at 8am or else you will be scheduled the next day, lucky if you can make it in the afternoon. Oh yes..you have to wait from 5am til 9am until they give you a number and have to wait for the mall to open at 10am. Make sure you bring something to eat and drink and something that will keep you occupied while waiting. I'm glad I had enough patience today. :P

No more renewal for NBI Clearances. Everything is considered as new applicants. So just bring two valid id's and payment and that's it. Once they start the process it wouldn't take you an hour to finish it.

I hope this information helps. :)

Sent I-129F 02/18/12

Where are you going to process your NBI by the way?

NBI region 6(Iloilo) only allow 700 applicants per day.

and its really fast if no common names. but if you knew someone

from NBI it could be more faster, or even ask a favor to any NBI agents

around ask if they could help you process fast cuz you really need it

ASAP.

Don't get your NBI too soon, they may be valid for a year but the embassy has been known to ask for a "fresh" one if they are too old, why tempt an 221g? Wait until you get notice of the NOA2 then start gathering your NBI & CENOMAR. NSO is no issue for getting early (oh ya, on the topic of the Birth Certificate, get 5 or 6 copies so you have extras once you get stateside, you will need one from time to time)

Its a long day standing in line for the NBI and this time of year.... rain.

Agree, ideally your NBI will be within 3 months before your interview.

Also, just FYI, as far as I know, NBI is 'national' like our FBI, so no need to get different ones from different areas. My fiancé grew up in Zamboanga, and so as part of preparing, since she was back there anyway, she got local police and baranguy clearances while she was there. Also she got Manila police and baranguy clearances from Parañaque where we have a condo. Complete waste of time. All they wanted to see was the NBI. So it doesn't matter where you get your NBI, you only need to get it once, so might as well get it from where you live now.

No local police clearances needed.

You apply for NBI here in Iloilo instead, records are centralize so no need to get it from Laguna, and better if your NBI is

new, it will only take few hours here in iloilo to get NBI clearance, not sure in other location. or if you also need to get some

of your Documents like BC, CENOMAR. then process everything in one place.

Sometimes it appears when you're requesting NBI for overseas travel, it 'can' take more than a few hours. My fiancé had gotten an NBI for employment, and got it in a few hours. The one we needed for our interview took three weeks.
