Bill Maher, Joy Behar, Others Need to Be Taught Manners

By Mark Whittington | Yahoo! Contributor Network – 9 hrs ago

COMMENTARY | This week on "liberals behaving badly" we have a madcap HBO host talking about how Republicans feel about Mexicans and another madcap TV personality on how Republicans feel about Mitt Romney's sons.

And, of course, how some gay activists revealed how they really feel about Ronald Reagan.

First up, we have Bill Maher, whose rantings have done so much to provide material for opinion writers on the right. According to the Daily Caller, while engaged in a discussion on the Fast and Furious cover-up, Maher suggested Republicans irate about the stonewalling don't care about dead Mexicans and they would still be dead if the federal government had not facilitated the running of guns to Mexican drug cartels. Maher as usual misses the point. It is a tragedy so many Mexicans as well as Border Patrol agent Brian Terry were killed. It is a scandal that Barack Obama's Justice Department helped to facilitate the massacre.

Next up, Joy Behar, Current TV's new superstar, suggested the members of GoProud, a gay Republican group, are not so much orientated to the GOP because their concerns do not begin and end with same-sex marriage. Behar's theory, according to Newsbusters, is they all lust for Romney's sons. Behar exhibited a curious form of homophobia, assuming right-leaning gay men are sex crazed and not concerned with things like high taxes, the national debt and turmoil in the Middle East.

Moving right along to the sort of gay men Behar likely approves of, we have the incident in which a group of gay activists thought it might be jolly to be photographed giving the portrait of President Ronald Reagan the middle finger salute. According to Fox News, the White House was embarrassed enough to express disapproval. Disrespect of a former president is not a precedence the Obama people want to have set. President Romney is likely to unveil the official Obama portrait in a few years.

All this tells us the left, like the hooligans who tormented Karen Klein on that school bus, need to be taught manners. Defeat in elections has not accomplished that task yet, but it is a good start.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
