Hey guys,

My stepfather (us citizen) filed a I - 130 for me as an immediate relative of a us citizen. He sent it away on the 19th of march 2012 and within a week he received the NOA1. We are now waiting for NOA2 and trying not to be impatient.

Does anyone know how we may have to wait?

Thanks in advance :)

Susie

Where did you get sent to? California or Vermont?

If California, then you could be hearing something anytime between now and Mid August. If you got sent to vermouth, probably Closer to mid August.

Hey, thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I don't actually no a lot about it but from what my mum told me, I'm pretty sure they filed it at the Vermont sc and it got sent to California sc. I can't be 100% sure though. I would ring my mum now and ask but she will be sleeping. I'm hoping to hear something soon as I have flights booked for september (bit of a mess around but originally I was just going to visit until I found out I could immigrate). So yeah, flight is for the 10th sept. do you think we could get through the process by then?

I'm assuming you were under the age of 18 when your parents got married. Correct? The following applies only if you were.

Ummmm, would probably take a minor miracle to get to the states with a visa on September 10.

This is how I see your case going, and this is PURE speculation. Of course no one knows exactly what is going to happen, but this would be BEST CASE scenario....

IF you filed everything correctly and IF everything goes smoothly and IF you got sent to California:

- could possibly get your noa2 any day now (I have seen many people getting approved in 100 days lately at California), but let's say you get approved in a month from now, just to be realistic. So, approved on July 19.

- takes a month to get situated at NVC (now we're at August 19.)

- takes another month for your interview date (now we're at September 19)

- throw in an extra month, just For wiggle room and now we're looking at October 19 as being a more realistic date for visa in hand. And that would probably be the earliest.

If you got sent to Vermont you can expect to add a month or 2 onto you wai for NOA2 which would push everything back a month or 2.

Remember, this is purely going off of what I have seen on this website lately. EVERYTHING can change in the blink of an eye. Things can slow down. Things can speed up. Nothing is ever set in stone when it comes to immigration.

Also, please fill in your timeline so we can understand your situation better. Thanks.

Hi there,

Yes they got married a month before my 18th birthday (lucky). Yeh I suspected that I would be waiting a while. I suppose it isn't too much trouble to change my travel dates. Thank you very much
