Actually it does, it comes with the duties of a good Christian to try and convert as many as possible.

Sounds cultish.

I could never be one, then. I personally can't bring myself to care what others believe or don't believe.

Being a good Christian is about living the Gospel. If every 'good' Christian did just that, people would be converting to Christianity in droves. All the proselytizing comes up empty against a backdrop of un-Jesus-like actions by 'good' Christians, under the guise of their religion.

Every good Christian believes that there are billions of people at all times that are permanently living on fire in the underworld led by the most evil red skinned devil with a long red tail and horns, formerly known as a perfect angel that lived in heaven.

That every waking second billions of people are spending eternity in excruciating pain beyond human imagination nonstop, forever, because of the way they thought (or were raised) on this 70-year life that we have.

And that every day the majority of the 150,000 people that die are added to God's torture chamber.

It's a pretty Christian thought. They even think their friends and cousins and grandparents of different religious beliefs will be BURNED ALIVE for eternity because every religion is wrong but mysteriously and wonderfully their Christian religion is right and gets you into heaven. And it is a simple entry: Just join the Christian cult and accept Jesus Christ into your heart and believe He died for your sins.

I know I felt bad for my Jewish grandparents when I was a kid because they'd be lit on fire the split second they passed and that horrific agonizing feeling of melting flesh would NEVER go away once they passed. Good people but Jesus was gonna ignite their bodies into flames and send them on their way for eternity to join the billions and billions of people that call hell their eternal home right now, yesterday, tomorrow, and forever.

Quit a beautiful Christian philosophy that is near and dear to a Christian heart.

It's the fundamentalist Christians who believe that heaven is some kind of exclusive club for those with the Gold 'C' card, but not all Christians. God's not a snob. He loves everyone equally.

You know how people who bash gay people on a regular basis are most of the time living in denial because they secretly have a crush on the big burly hairy legged bubbles living down their street. It seems to be kind of the same with you. Do you have a secret crush on the Lord Jesus Christ? Its ok if you do! The bible encourages it! Just come out of the closet already and anounce to everyone that you love Jesus! Please!

Don't bring up religion and they won't be able to do it. It's pretty simple.

Ha if only it were that simple. Besides I don't recall bringing up religion with LI and yet he litters this board with these threads.

Give me a few examples of some good quality threads that aren't "littering."

Here is VJs front page (only 1 thread is mine). What are some goodies, besides Danno's "Netherlands is abandoning MULTICULTURALISM: Danno the Social Prophet" thread!

Any thread that Danno starts is definitely littering.

You could be right on this, not with the OP I think, but at least with some people who are extreme in their intolerance of religious types. My understanding of Biblical history is that the writer known as Paul in the New Testament was just such an individual! It is easy to criticize some of the extreme versions of Christianity. Their intemperance and excesses should embarrass their fellow Christians. Especially some of the extremely intolerant tea-party types! When the rabidly anti-christian types actually encounter some of the few really decent Christians who are warm, tolerant, articulate, and, most of all, truly living a 'Christian' lifestyle they are sometimes blown away and wind up converting! The atheists who are least reachable are those who have experienced Christianity and have found they are just unable to believe so much that is just not scientifically believable, no matter how pretty and appealing some can make it sound. And then you have people like me that believe in most of what is written in the gospels but cannot accept that we were magically created 6000 years ago. I have heard the term 'non-theistic Christian'. For us, most of the old testament is as unacceptable as Muslim sharia law as found in the Quran. I think everybody who professes to believe the Bible should at least read it all the way through once!

Much more likely that the average Christian (the majority in name only) are actually full of doubts. How can you blame them? Never heard from God. Throughout their lives always asking for a sign to show that He is there and nothing. Thinking thoughts inside of their brains (praying) and these wishes do not come true. Trying to figure out how the people in the pews at church have been given the gift from God to speak Mumbo Jumbo (tongues) yet they are unable. They try to say a bunch of gibberish and feel uncomfortable/unnatural/weird like God just has not given them that gift yet. At night they do their 3 minute prayer routine and their mind drifts off into other thoughts because praying is so boring. And finally, they are bored out of their mind in church and rarely read the bible because it is so unbelievably and unimaginably boring!

This is your avg. Christian.
