if you got married to a us citizen he worked filed fedaral taxes yes he can put you on the w-7 IRS form so both of you can file your taxes jointy.you need to download from the irs form w-7 you fill it out sign it see it along with a copy of your passport bio page send it to your spouse in the united states he also sign the w-7 with a copy of his us passport and a copy of your marriage certificate get it notarized.mail al that to the address thats on the w-7 only to that address in austin texas, the irs should seen you her number to use for taxes.and when she comes to the united states and receives the social security card, you MUST call the irs to let them know that you have your ss card, thay will send you a conformation letter that the w-7 number is no longer in use,

Use it to file your tax returns and open financial accounts.

The IRS will not refuse your ITIN. The IRS is the US government agency that assigned the ITIN to you. The IRS assigned the ITIN to you so you could file your tax return. There is no good reason for the IRS to assign the ITIN to you so you can file your taxes and then turn around to refuse the ITIN when you file your taxes. It would not make sense for the IRS to refuse the ITIN that it assigned to you.
