Hi,

My husband misplaced his passport few years ago during moving to a new place. He couldn't find it. He didn't bother getting replacement at that time. Now that we have filed for I-130, he is going to need his passport. Does anyone know how to get replacement of Indian passport in Mumbai?

Thanks in Advance.

Yes he will need passport once we are approved. He will need it at the time of Interview. I just wanted to know the process of getting a replacement passport from Mumbai and how long it takes.

He can apply for a re-issue of new passport but he need to provide a photocopy as well as old passport. Since he lost his passport, he needs to file a police report-FIR and submit it along with new application.

Find nearest PSK at http://www.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink. Your husband need to register online to complete an application form as well as to take appointment and visit PSK.

Instruction for re-issue of passport for who lost one is given here,

I am not sure about Mumbai. But someone who lost passport needs to get police certificate and it is a pain in the back. Ask him to go to local PSK to know more about the procedure.
