Hello everyone. I have a few questions regarding the affidavit of support. I am new to this, but before I ask the questions, this is my story..

I met my fiance from the Dominican Republic back in Feb 2010 and we started a relationship in November 2010. I traveled to DR 7 times after we made the relationship official. I recently submitted the i-129f petition on 06-15-2012 and received my NOA1 06-21-2012. First question, when do I submit my affidavit of support?? I know it's a bit early to ask, but I just want to be prepared. Second, I am a mother of 3, and just started a full time job not too long ago (due to being a full time student in school) and I don't quite meet the 125% poverty line; May I use my father as a sponsor? I read on one of the post, that they got denied b/c he used his mother as co-sponsor and with a K1 visa, you may not use family?? Is this true?? Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advanced :D

Welcome to the forum.

The I-134 Affidavit of Support is submitted at the consulate interview, and that sounds like at least about six months away. The documents needed for the I-134 are somewhat time-sensitive and should be prepared closer to your interview date. Check with the Caribbean regional discussion and review the specific Embassy Info page about sponsor restrictions and specific requirements of the DR consulate/embassy.

P.S. Consider changing the filing location on your profile to the correct one, the Vermont Service Center. You sent your initial petition to the Dallas Tx lockbox facility, not the Texas Service Center.

Good luck on your visa journey.

No problem at all using family as a co-sponsor. Many people use family including their parents. I used my father.
