My fiancee completes her DOT / TB treatment in about 2 weeks. Her last sputum culture (8 week) should be complete about August 10. My understanding is she will have a re-medical after August 10, then the vaccinations. Anyone have any experience with this period of time? Is it possible to have St. Lukes give the vaccinations before the remedial? (We have heard of some people delayed 2 weeks for vaccinations). Similarly, how prompt are re-meidcals after the 8 week sputum culture window?

General thoughts?

I plan to fly back for the interview, and some notice on the schedule would be useful for planning.

Thank you

Let's see if I can remember.....Ritchie had to do the DOT treatment. Her 8 weeks culture ended on October 27, 2011. From what I remember, she could not do the medical for a couple of weeks and as I recall part of that was due to her having her time of the month in there and she had to wait until that was over and then a number of days after before she could re-do the medical. I think it was around Novemeber 11, 2012 before she had the medical again and then she had to wait about 10 days for the results of that. It was not quick. And I think there was a Philippines Holiday in there somewhere, too. Altogether I would say it was about 3 weeks from her 8 weeks culture results until she got results of her repeated medical exam. They will not do the vaccines before the medical exam is completed.

That was our experience. It was a different time of year. Don't know if that made it take longer, or not.

  • 2 weeks later...

Re-medical first before you can go for vaccination. After the remedical you need to wait about one week for the vaccination. My friend who's in the same situation with your fiancee completed her remedical in about 8 days and got approved on her visa on the next day.
