After waiting so long since June 04, they now sent us RFE...today...the status says -

"On March 26, 2013, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

I wanted to clarify two more things-

1) I have already prepared my passport clearance certificate from passport office in January. That will be needed in NVC when they demand documents before transferring case to my country embassy. Does anyone know how long they consider that valid. In present rate, it will be asked to submit after 5 months from prepared date. I. E. from January.

2) same is for police clearance

I have prepared that in January. How long it's valid.

Well, when you submitted I-130 to USCIS they will run your application (petitioner name only) against 3 of their database for background check and criminal history (if your name matches someone else ....good luck because they will put your case aside for further investigation).

Where as DS-230 is biographic of beneficiary only, since this person is not in USA they(USCIS) can't run a background check and this is why you required a POLICE background check from your country.

This is very interesting information.

I don't know how long they're good for your country.

MY police clearance should be good for 12 month. (but I need to check this again)

With this time length I be safer having it all done over. (sucks)

Mine too. 12 months. Not sure if it's the same for every country, though.

It get even more interesting with DS-230 is that it asked for police certificate clearance since age of 16 til present time. This mean if you lived in multiple country in the past, you're required to present each country police clearance for that country you have reside.

Nope some country only good for 6 months, and for SOME US Embassy but not other will required a second police clearance prior interview. This is because due to fact from time of DS-230 been received/review deliver to local Embassy it nearly 3 months plus, so in those windows you could commit a crime.

Ya I kind of figured that there were some that only lasted for a few months.

Does this mean I have to supply one from the states?
