lets see what happens.

Sounds about right. But they are also known for saying anything to get people off the phone.

So i called the 1800 number today to check on my case, i asked what cases are currently being processed by CSC i was told 8.28.12 i told them that my pd date is 6.29.2012 so why haven’t i been approved yet. I then hung up and called right back to see if im being lie to the other representative gave me the same pd 8.28.2012 so as of now California is processing august i 130.... i spoke with a level 11 officer and she told me that she’s not sure why i haven’t been approved yet because based on her data base i should have been.....go figure i guess that’s just my luck!

Did you ask them to submit a service request or to see if there is anything that could be done to see where your petition is?

PS - I presume level 11 = level II = level 2.

dear friends... i just really wanted to ask this question here since I noticed that many people are active on this thread. So my question is, my current passport was obtained last 2011 and at that time I was not yet married so the name that appears is my maiden name... or single name... so is it necessary to change my surname and use my husband's family name? change my passport? i am worried coz getting a new passport will take 35 working days and i visited DFA.. passports will be available on APril which possibly is too late since we are expecting for the petition approval by the end of this month or march. my PD is June 29. my husband's lawyer didn't advice him about this but probably because my husband didn't ask him yet. he said it's not necessary to change my passport but i just want to make sure he is right.

hope someone can help me with this question? i would appreciate your reply. thanks.

Answer to this simple question is NO!, you don't have to change your surname as it will only complicate your filing papers and even may delay the process at this point. I know many...many people DON'T.

I'm not. A month before my husband and I were married, I got my short-term UK Tier 2 work visa so I could travel to the UK and do training. The visa is good for one year. If I changed my name, I would have to apply for that visa all over again and I would need a new passport to put it in, and my company is not willing to pay for those things all over again. As it is they turned an indulgent eye on me eloping on my business trip.

(Well, that's not as bad as it sounds. I took two days off "for personal reasons", and we went down and got married. LOL)

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

All advice is given pursuant to the Disclaimer that you may read at the bottom of each forum page.

LATEST STEPS:

28 Jun 2013: POE Houston

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

07 Aug 2013: Green Card received

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

Speedwell - are you the same speedwell from BE? :)

hey CS! Yup that's me :innocent:

Folks, this dude is also going through the same nonsense with respect to an overdue approval. But he's knowledgeable as hell, listen to him. :)

I did change but thats not at all necessary. My husband even said that to me before when we got married and my documents which included new Pakistani identity card, new passport (because of changed surname) etc were in process. I had a perception may be this would speed up the process but my suggestion; its not necessary at all. and since you have already filed the petition and approval is on its way, dont take the risk. All the very best! :)
