Hello All,

I applied for my wife in October 2010 as a permanent resident. My I-130 was approved and I already paid the visa fees, as well as, filled out the sponsor form. I just became citizen on June 15th and send an email to upgrade my case. I received an email today (6/22/12) stating that my request is under review. I am trying to understand how long does it take for the review to complete and case upgraded to IR1/IR3? Also, how long does it take for someone to get interview after then?

Please let me know.

As your I-130 is approved, depending on how fast they upgrade your status, I guess you can get out of NVC and get an interview date in 2.5-3 months (approximately), depending how proactive you are. But the key would be to get your case upgraded first to get higher priority. As you are saying you paid visa fee, does that mean you submitted your IV and AOS as well? Sorry if I didn't get it right on your current status. If you passed the NVC as well, hopefully it would take around 2 months or less to get the interview date, again depending on the upgrade of your case.

Good luck.

  • 1 month later...

hi, i was in the same situation as yours, they already upgraded my case form F2A to IR-1. but i had to call them like 3 times and they said that the upgrade process usually takes 2 to 3 weeks but IT ACTUALLY took 2 months and 10 days to upgrade my case. after that they sent me the interviw date in 2 weeks from the date they upgraded my case..my case is in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC so the waiting time for the interview might be different from your country. NVC starts sending notifications of interview appointments in the first 2 weeks of each months, then they forward the case to the us embassy abroad where the case is assigned to....here's my timetable so you can figure out an estimate for upgrading a case:

MAY 6TH 2012: SENT PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP TO NVC

MAY 10TH 2012: EMAIL RECIEVED SAYING THAT CASE IS UNDER REVIEW

JULY 16TH 2012: CASE UPGRADED

JULY 31TH 2012: INTERVIEW DATE NOTICED

i hope this will help you..and my advise...KEEP CALLING THEM!! i guess that makes them work faster in your case..
