We got a letter in the mail after our NOA2 stating that our petition would be forwarded to the Montreal Consulate and that I (the fiance) should hear from them soon (as in get further instructions in the mail). We got this notice on May 21, and it's be a month now since I've gotten anything. Is this normal? I sent an e-mail to the Montreal Consulate but I got some automated copy and paste information that said "DO NOT send inquires about the status of the case. All cases are handled and reviewed in turn."

I tried calling the number here for Montreal http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_service_options, but they didn't have any answer for me and couldn't really direct me anyhere.

How do I find out if my petition was received, or my package was sent? From what I've researched, it should take only 2 weeks for me to get my package, I'm a bit worried.

You got a form letter. They send that to everyone. Call NVC to inquire about your case. Good luck

Call the NVC and see what date your petition was sent to Montreal.

We got my NOA2 on May 31. It was sent to NVC on June 14. NVC sent it to Montreal June 15.

I've been calling the Department of State basically every day to see if Montreal has received it yet. Like ours, yours is likely sitting in the Montreal mailroom waiting to be logged.

I'm sure you'll receive something shortly but call NVC first, then if it's been sent, call the DOS.

As for the wait, seems to be averaging about a month.

Good luck!

Thanks! Good luck to you as well. I found the number here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/327503-canada-immigration-k1-guide-for-montreal/

Took two calls before I got through to someone, she told me it was received and that my packet was sent out on June 15th.

Best wishes :)

If your Packet 3 was sent to you, you can go ahead and mail them your completed forms. Instructions are available on the consulate's website. This is one thing you can do to speed things up.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012

Once you have a case number (will look something like MTL123456) you can call department of state to inquire about the status of your case. A couple weeks after you've mailed your packet 3 to Montreal, start calling DOS to ask if your packet 4 has been logged. Once it's been logged you can book your interview online. Montreal can be very slow sending out Pkt 3 and Pk4; sometimes they just don't mail them out at all, so DOS is more reliable. You don't have to physically receive Pkt 4 in the mail to book an interview.

please do not be waiting for notification to arrive via snail mail.....in my case nothing ever did....all my correspondence was via email.....check your filters and junk box just in case it landed there. i waited and waited and nothing. remember the packets are merely a form letter and not a package. i don't believe anyone is receiving the packet via canada post anymore.

good luck
