I planted tomatoes, cucumber, zucchini, peppers, basil, mint and lettuce before I went to Jordan the last week in May. When I returned it had rained so much while I was gone, all my plants drowned and I had nothing left. This is the first summer ever I will not have a vegetable garden crying.gif

Oh wow! Was your 14.5 yr old born in December? I've been giving Sofia infant motrin the past couple days, too. Her gums are so swollen and I know she must be in pain poor little thing. I can feel the sharpness of one of the teeth so that one is almost through, thankfully. I can't sleep with just one baby teething...I do not envy you with 3!

Oh wow Mithra...I have a 14.5 year old boy too and a girla lmost 16 (30th instead) and an 18 year old girl..ot to mention my teething trio also! My guys dont like to sleep either and I have been functioning on little sleep since their birth..they just turned 10 months. I just woke up as I slept with them whent hey went to bed, but I have to try to sleep again..it sucks this sleeping like #######! I usually give them childrens Motrin..last 6-8 hours and works a lot better!

Thank you, msheesha!

I took her for her 9 month pictures yesterday. It's hard to tell in this picture but she has dark blonde hair just like I did when I was her age (it darkened to medium brown when I was a bit older). :) It really shows up in the new pics. I thought I was going to end up with a dark haired little girl but obviously I was wrong.

Thought this was an interesting article about initiative in Morocco to stop girls ages 3-10 from people made by their parents to cover.

I'm not able to discern if they're referring to hijab or total veiling. (could be clear as day, and it's just my Monday reading again!)

I don't believe children that young should be manipulated into covering. Telling them they will go to hell if they don't cover is awful. :( What a terrible thing to tell a young child. My grandmother's sister used to tell me I would go to hell if I didn't go to church when I was young. As if I could get in a car and drive myself there. I remember it giving me nightmares for awhile.

I haven't read it yet, but I remember seeing this really little girl... like 2 or so, covered in khimar in Jordan. She clearly hated it-- she was trying to pull it off-- and her father would smack her behind/spank her every time she tried. She was crying and he kept spanking her and shouting at her telling her it was haram to take it off. :/

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

In Catholic high school, the nuns told us if we French kissed a boy, we were going to Hell.

That's sad. It makes you wonder how the heck people just totally ignore the no compulsion in religion aspect?! They must be too busy sexualizing young children to fully let that sink in. Very sad. I see little girls covered around here- we live not too far from a large Salafi population. Especially in the heat, I think about how much those little girls are going to associate discomfort with Islam and totally rebel against it as they grow up...
