Just the two of us this year. My daughter will be traveling with her dad to see her relatives. I guess, I will scale down the food somewhat since its just the two of us. Yesterday, I made a red velvet cake, after experimenting so many other times to find the right recipe, and it was a winner. I am just ready to eat some corn bread dressing and cranberry sauce lol.

Growing up as a child, my mother always asked our church, about the family's who were in need of food for the holidays. I have carried this family tradition all these years. This year, I will be baking a Thanksgiving dinner for a family of five. It's so rewarding to see the faces of the children, when the big turkey is uncovered. I tend bake enough food for three or four days, so as they have full tummies.

That reminds me...My neighbor always invited young single Marines to her home to share the meal...I kinda suspected she was looking for a BF/SO for her eldest daughter too. :ot:

But how nice it is for the young men far from home to have a family feast....Good for her.

Man thinking about it right now....Turkey is one tasty bird.

Thursday is the day my husband will finally be a US Citizen. It'll be mostly low key. The kids will be at school/daycare and I took the day off of work. We'll go to the ceremony at the Minneapolis Convention Center and then out to lunch at a turkish restaurant afterwards. I full expect to cry the entire ceremony LOL I remember how far we've come and everything we went through to get to this point. I first filed the I-130 in February 2003 and now we'll finally be finished with USCIS for good.

Amazing feeling, I'm sure! Right now, I can't even imagine the moment in my own life. Its about as real to me as the Easter Bunny.

Congratulations to you and your family. 10 years of marriage and dealing with USCIS... one heck of an accomplishment. masha'Allah.

There is something so profoundly disturbing about that photo... it reminds me of something out of a David Lynch movie... a stark and stunning composition.... Well done !
