Hello All!

Getting close to the end of our visa journey here. James has his interview on Tuesday in London!

As we are getting prepared making sure we have all of our documents in order I was hoping that there would be some couples out there who recently had their interview in London and could provide us with any what to expect tips or example interview questions they were asked. We would definitely appreciate any advice!

Thanks & Good Luck to all on your own journeys!

My advice would be just make sure u have all the required documents and copys..which it sounds as if you do.

i had all mine separately labeled in a folder so i could pull them out without to much fuss.

What times ur appointment? Mine was 9am but i arrived rnd 730am and started queing..was out the embassy with approval in hand

at 835am. So i would say the earlier the better.

Guess u know u cant take any electronic devices in such as car keyfobs, mobiles, mp3 players etc etc?

Once you have processed through the que and security check and are inside the embassy...STAY CALM.!! lol i was a nervous wreck

but as many have said its a pretty painless process...and its true.

you will be called to your 1st window where u will hand in your documents and have ur fingerprints done, then be given your pink

courier form to fill in, so make sure u take a pen. I was fortunate i was called to the second window for my interview 15minutes later..some have longer waits. but i really belive the earlier u get there sooner u be seen..i was the second imagrant visa in line, all the others were for non-imagrant visas.

So, you will be called up for ur interview and as short as time as possible hopefully.!!! you will be just be ask a number of question..to which you will know the answers too...just be prepared for them to try and catch you out a little...i had little chinese guy and from other reviews i read he done same to them.. you might say for example u met 2010 but not in person till 2011..he might try and throw u by confusing dates up. also i was hit with what would you do if i denied your visa today..i just repled get married and apply for spousal visa..!! towards end he was going through my folder and said..oh wheres ur medical form..well i saw it as he was flipping through..i said right there  he had little grin on his face..not sure if he was trying to un nerve me.

All in all was a painless time..just relax and enjoy your day..All the best.!!!

Other than suggest you read the reviews of the London Embassy (which I highly recommend) I'd advise the following.

  • Have your paperwork in order and easy to access. Before you get into the Embassy you'll have to show your appointment letter, MRV receipt and passport multiple times so don't have them somewhere awkward.
  • Do not bring anything electronic with you - no mobile phones, no keys with electronic bits, no headphones. Nothing. When I was there for my interview someone was turned away twice because he still had something electronic on him.
  • Get a good seat. If you are in early enough you will have plenty of choice so try and get one where you can see the screens, but also not be blinded by the sunshine (if any hehe)
  • After the first window when you hand over your documents and passport they retain the sticker that has your number on it so take a minute to write your number on your hand just in case.
  • Non-immigrant visas (N numbers) will be called and processed before yours. Do not panic, this is normal.
  • Relax. You are there because there is someone very special in your life that you want to spend the rest of your days with.

Good luck, and anything you aren't sure about please feel free to ask :)
