I don't know why this is a racial issue. Crime is crime, race is irrelevant.

If the FBI hadn't been involved in the Danziger Bridge shooting the police would have got away with it, as they did for many years. They tried to deal with it locally but corruption is so bad in NOPD that the FBI had to take over. The FBI said it was some of the worst corruption it had seen.

Is "white" a race? Is "black" a race? No, but both are forever used in describing physical attributes. It's not a misnomer or a mistake, it's a description and they most certainly do carry physical attributes. Can you tell the difference between a white person from England and a white person from Ireland just by looking at them? No, you can't. So we refer to them as simply "white". At the same time you can usually tell the difference between most Italians and most Irish people, but we still call them both white. It's a generalization that is used and accepted to describe most people in the world. Otherwise everyone would be running around saying, "it was that guy".

As used the terms "black" and "white" do denote races. Are they etymologically correct? No. It is also not completely correct to denote a person of negroid race as being "African American". There are many caucasian citizens of countries in Africa.

The only purpose of words and language is to communicate. Unfortunately, that communication is often imprecise. This is what gives lawyers, politicians, and diplomats the opportunity to use their 'skills'!

I really don't think anything about this case is racial. I think the media and perhaps the prosecution are reaching on that subject. I don't believe the police chief or the mayor have been motivated by race.
