I864 proof of citizenship?

Hey guys, for the I864 do I need to include any proof of US citizenship, like a birth certificate? Or does my joint sponsor (my father)? I thought I heard that he would need to include something. Could we use my birth certificate since it has his name? Or does he need his own birth certificate in the package? Let me know guys, after that I can send all my papers! Thanks in advance.

Every sponsor must submit proof of their status as a citizen or green card holder. Your birth certificate would not prove your dad's status.

Rather than "hearing" about things, be sure to review the form instructions along with the guides and sample forms here on VJ. You will be much better prepared.

He needs his own proof. Here is what it says in the I-864 instructions:

19. Citizenship/Residency.

Proof of U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident status is required for joint and substitute sponsors and for relatives of employment-based immigrants who file this form. Petitioning relatives who have already filed proof of their citizenship or immigration status with Forms I-130, Form I-129F, I-600 and I-600A do not need to submit proof of their status with this form.

Proof of U.S. citizen or national status includes a copy of your birth certificate, certificate of naturalization, certificate of citizenship, consular report of birth abroad to citizen parents, or a copy of the biographic data page of your U.S. passport.

Just to clarify, the actual petitioner has already provided sufficient evidence of status. Only the joint sponsor needs to add evidence with the affidavit of support.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I assumed that was the case, but I never know with the NVC.
