For the United Kingdom ... my husband has no immunization records because he moved around alot.

He is now 36 ... does he need to get all of them re-done or just the ones that are required

for his age group?

From the list of vaccinations required, it looks like he only needs to get the MMR since the other ones don't fit into his age group ...

Did your fiance move around a lot internationally or within the UK?

It might still be possible to get his records. I moved around a lot, my father was in the military. A nurse at my GP was able to locate them when at first she had said there was no record.

Yes, I was also surprised that, despite having moved around, when I asked for my records they went back to my birth - and I am over 50!!

You might also need a diphtheria, polio and tetanus booster.

Get a titer test done then you'll know what ones you he's missing.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to get the vaccinations as opposed to paying to draw the titers and then get the vaccinations? Testing for Vericella makes sense but the others I would just get them.

Well, some better news ... I had called his GP earlier today seeing if they could

find anything on his medical history, and we heard back a little while later.

Turns out, they have a record of all the ones he needed (he was 6 years then)

right before he and his family immigrated to the US in the 80's. They'll have

a printout in the next few days for us.

That's what I was trying to explain to him before we learned that his GP has the records.

He was saying he doesn't need to get the same ones over again because he already had

them. We just didn't have proof ...

My wife is from China and vaccination records are a relatively new concept there. She had had vaccinations as a child but had no proof nor was she certain which ones. She had them draw the titer for Vericella and then just said give me the rest. She's about 100 lbs and got 8 shots in one day. The nurse said "honey as small as you are i expect you to start leaking this stuff back out any minute".

Td or Tdap - If not available, get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted. Must be within last 10 yrs.

MMR (if born in 1957 or later) Get a second shot 4 wks later if you have time. If shot 1 is right before medical exam, then shot 2 is waived for "insufficient time interval".

Varicella – Not routinely given in the UK ; a history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa medical exam.

Influenza - During flu season only, October 1 through March 31. This was a new recommendation dated November 2010 for all ages over 6 months. Older lists will say flu shots for over age 50. It changed.

A CR1 visa applicant who has not had chickenpox will get a waiver on the varicella because it iis not available in the UK. This is not true for K visa applicants because they can get one in the US prior to adjustment of status.

Question: Is MMR now only available in the UK as a two-shot process? When the ex had his done in 2007, it was a one-jab affair, no need for a follow-up.

I believe I read somewhere that it's only one shot and the following 2 shots are recommended but not required. That's what my husband told me. Not 100% positive though.

Thanks Crumpet .. you're always so good at outlining info in an easy-to-understand format :star:

He had chickenpox when he was 4, so we're all good on that one

Now I still have to convince him to get his passport. He's stubborn and insists he doesn't need one until we hear from the embassy but I've been going blue in the face trying to explain to him that he needs it *before* so we can get his police certificate and all that jazz. I'm trying to be pro-active and make the process seamless but he just wants to wait until they request it.

Blue in the face I tell ya!!

About the MMR jab, im not so sure for adults, but my daughter recently had it and she just had one. She doesnt need any more vaccinations for another 3 and a half years, so unless they do things differently for children or things have changed, i think its just one.
