Hi antoniostar! Its to nice to hear from someone who had just recently done this DORA process. I'm glad to hear that your application has gone so smoothly and easily. I hope they will ask us the same questions, and be as easy on us as they were on you, haha. Thanks and Goodluck on your application as well! :)

I agree . . . it would be nice it they only asked those questions.

good luck on Monday, Hershey!!!

I remember when we made the Infopass Appointment for the interview there was a suggested time to show up before the interview. Just follow the instructions and you will be ok! We showed up at 12.00 and our appointment was at 1.00pm, but we weren't called in until after 3.00pm...go figure! Better to be early and wait there, though, rather than be late and risk to lose your interview!

(when I had the interview, they didn't accept personal checks, just money orders or cashier's checks...don't know if they do now)

My 2 daughters and I had our Dallas Infopass Appointment last November 27, 2006 scheduled 11:15 am at 3010 NORTH STEMMONS FREEWAY, Dallas, TX 75247. We arrived at around 10:45 am and showed our INFOPASS Appointment letter to the guard. After security checks, he told us to proceed to the window (line-up) to submit our appointment letter (one appointment letter for 3 applicants: 1 K1 and 2 K2's) . We were told to take our seats and wait for our names to be called. There were many applicants.

At around 12 noon, they called us (same window). We paid the fees. John paid in cashier's check: 3 cashier's check ( 1 check for each applicant... $395 for me....$395 for my 20 year old daughter and $225 for my 9 year old daughter. The $395 includes the $70 biometrics fee). The cashier's check was made payable to USCIS (this is also specified in your appointment letter...payable to USCIS: correct fees in the form of a cashier's check or money order). They then asked our documents after we paid. We were told to again go back to our seats. They will check if all our documents are complete and if we can be accepted to the DORA program.

At 12:30 pm, we were again called and we were given our Congratulations letter (that we were accepted into the Dallas District I-485 Pilot Program). And the lady told us to wait for our interview scheduled at 1:15 pm.

We were called at around 1:45 pm. The nice lady immigration officer ushered us into her office. The 4 of us (John, 2 daughters and me) were sworn into oath. Then she started with the interview: how did both of you meet? When did you meet and where? It was not stressful. She made us feel comfortable. She asked for birthdates...she asked for mine...asked my daughters theirs...she asked John his...she asked for our home address...each of us...she asked for our contact numbers.

She said that the problem we have now is just my 20 year old daughter who will be age-ing out in January...and this is because there might be a delay in FBI name checks and she might not make it....but other than that we are fine because our documents are perfect. I put in our application cover letter: REQUEST FOR EXPEDITIOUS HANDLING: K2 AGE-ING OUT AND WITH PERMANENT PROTECTION ORDER (we have a permanent court order against my ex-husband relative to Phililppine Republic Act 9262: Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004). She asked us if we are religious...and we told her yes...and she said...please do pray. I mentioned the Protection Order. She said that she did read that..and that's the reason why it took so long for us to be called for the interview because she read every detail of it. She also prays that the FBI name check will expedite. We told her that if my daughter will have to go back to the Philippines, her safety from her biological father is not assured and this worries us. She said to pray for the expedition. She then explained to my 9 year old that we will have our biometrics taken but hers (my 9 year old) will be different from her mother's and sister's...instead of the 10 fingers, she will only have her forefinger to be scanned.

She then explained to me (and John) that after we receive our green cards (kids and me), our next step will be to apply to remove the conditions on the permanent residency since we applied for adjustment of status less than 2 years of marriage. She asked us if we have any other questions. We just asked if our biometrics will be done in the same office. She said that it would be in a different Immigration Office. We couldn't think of any other thing to ask that time. Actually our interview lasted for around 15 minutes.

Praying the best for all of us here at Visajourney,

Jo (F)

Wow that was a detailed one! Thanks jo for posting that in here. That sure helped me and a lot of other applicants. We have the same appointment time so I guess we'll be waiting for a couple hours just like you did. I think I can finally stop stressing over this appointment since I have heard a lot of experiences from everybody about how easy it was. Thanks so much and goodluck in your case! I do hope that everything will be fine for your family. I'm sure it will be.

Thanks cbd2cai!

Hi everyone! :) My husband and I just got back from our AOS-DORA interview today and I'm so happy that everything went well. It was exactly how Jo had described it.

We got there around 10:30 this morning, went through the security check and all that. The officer at the window said that we should leave our appointment letter and wait to be called, which was what we did. After more than 2 hours of waiting, the officer called my name and asked for my I-485 packet. I handed her everything plus the $395.00 money order, and was then told to be seated while they review my papers. They were having some sort of technical/computer problems so the processing were running a bit late than normal--that's what the officer at the window said. After another 30 minues or so, they called my name again to hand me the "Congratulations" letter stating that I am admitted to the DORA Program. They also wrote down the approximate time of my interview, which should be about 15 minutes later. But since they were running late due to some problem, we had to wait for another hour before an Immigration came out of Door #2 and called my name. The interview lasted about 15 minutes, and it was great. The lady officer was so nice and didn't ask a lot of questions. She did ask me about my birthday, address, and other basic information, but that's jst about it. We showed her some of our pictures from the time we met up to the wedding. She also asked for some assets, or evidence thereof, that would show joint ownership. We had to give her a copy of my husband's insurance showing me as his beneficiary. That's it. I just have to wait for the fingerprinting schedule, which I hope won't take long.

Thank you so much for all your help. I now think its funny that I had to panic about this when it was so easy, haha. I hope my little experience would be helpful to future applicants too! Goodluck to us all!

Good luck everybody! (F)

Hi, sorry for late reply, I have stopped checking my DORA status after first 90 days.

I already have H1 Visa so don't want to spend on work approval and advance parole(don't need to travel anytime soon).

I am currently trying to schedule appointment to check application status in person. The online status hasn't changed since I took my biometrics.
