Thanks for all of the positive responses.

We're going to have to go ahead and file a Motion to Reopen my case. I've already spoken with my congressman, and he's under the impression that there's not alot else we can do.

Even if it is their mistake, I doubt they'll admit it - and not until after they've received the non-refundable $385.

Oh well, I'm off to get my wisdon teeth pulled.

Really - I'm not kidding!

This hasn't been a good week. :(

Thanks, HappyGirl, for starting a DORA thread over here. I think it makes it so much easier for people to find information, people to ask questions and people to help answer those questions if we keep it going.

Sure stinks with what all you are going through. I, too, thought that when we give them the papers in person that they double check that things are all there like it needs to be and if not, then they turn people away or whatever. You'd think that even if the clerk at the window didn't see something was missing that the interviewing officer would have caught it.

I agree with others here about the left hand not know what the right hand is doing :wacko:

I would make an appointment through infopass to see what they tell you in person.

Hope they get it all worked out for you asap.

Ashley, we are so glad to hear of the approval. Sure have missed our chats. Working this shift sure makes it hard. We'll have to chat again soon. :)

nina1, not so sure you'd want to be a part of the DORA program. They promise to "try" to complete cases within 90 days, yet so many people hear nothing for much longer. Which I suppose it's still faster than the standard process, but when people get their hopes up and hear nothing sure adds to the stress. LOL

Gman Yesterday, 04:31 PM Post #11

I take it, from your post, that you didn't attend the EAD/AP appointment. I'm increasingly getting the impression that this is a bad idea (that's no help now I know....). The way the 70th day letter is worded it comes across that it's optional - only if EAD/AP is required - but at least (maybe?) they can give you a clue as to what the hold up is. That said, I didn't get any info at mine - but at least they know I'm still on board.

We went to our appointment although we had not planned to file for EAD/AP. The man wasn't even interested in our case number, so he didn't check that way. Once we told him that we did not plan to pay and file for those, all he asked was when our interview was and said that we should hear something soon. Then sent us on our way out the door. LOL

Mornin' y'all,

GeordieLvr:

I'm not sure which timeline you're referring to but I know all the forum data is available if you change "forums" to "forums2" in the URL. This is the link to the old DORA thread.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums2/index.p...40entry899732

BlueEyesInTexas:

Yeah....... I guess you're right. If you're not doing EAD/AP at the appointment they're not going to be interested in you. I just remember somebody getting an Infopass appointment to apply for EAD/AP a few months after their 70th day letter appointment and the officer was very unsympathetic because they hadn't attended the previous appointment -- but there's little point attending if you don't want it (and they don't want you!). It's a lose/lose situation as far as I can tell.

I'm coming up on 2 months since receiving my EAD/AP but still no news on AOS. Brrrrrrr. Like others, I don't mind waiting another 8 months - I've got EAD and AP. It's just not knowing if it's gonna be 24 months, whether there's a problem etc. Moan moan.

Nina1:

Just to add to BlueEyesInTexas' comments and reiterate previous posts of mine. DORA might be slower, might be quicker. Noone knows..... but the pros:

- less chance (or so we thought) of an RFE since cases are checked at submission;

- there are a few cases (becoming rarer) of AOS within the target 90 days;

- pretty much guaranteed (AFAIK) EAD/AP within 100 days of submission irrespective of case status;

- you get to 'hang' with the cool cats on the DORA threads.

Thus, if you want to be able to work ASAP or leave the country then DORA might be for you. Otherwise, it's a bit of an unknown quantity.

I dunno how long it should take - mine took around two weeks I think. I know it sounds silly but are you sure you're typing in the right number? Mine was MSC + 10 digits: MSC0123456789

Not that status on the website seems to make any difference...

That's terrible. I'm very sorry. I think you can definitely get Advanced Parole. I don't know of anyone who's done it though - bound to be a nightmare.

Andria,

Sorry to hear the bad news as well, that's probably everyone worst nightmare. I agree that if he needed he could probably get immediate advance parole. By the way, you might not be able to track online till after your biometrics are done.
