The lady didnt ask us much really.

raise your right hand, do you swear to tell the truth..

then she asked if that was our address on the form, verfied a few other details on the application, asked how we met, and asked when he came to the US, and when we were married. That was it really.

it was a 6 hr drive each way for us, and no more than a 10 min interview once we got thru the 90 minute wait :P

APPROVED for my greencard!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeeehaaaaa i am soooo happy :D:dance::dance::dance::dance:

We waited for 3 hours after our appointment time before finally being seen. heres how the interview went.

Our appt time was at 10.45am and we got there around 10am and flukily got the closest parking spot. I needed to pee so badly so the nice people at the furniture place besides the uscis building let me use their bathroom. We went through security (no cell phones allowed) and handed our infopass letter in at the window. Our attorney then arrived and the people at the window called us up. He handed in all our forms and checks and i.d. and the guy looked everything over and said it was all in order and gave me an acceptance letter saying I was accepted for the DORA programme. Told us our appt time would be around 12.45pm

3 hours later (take food/drinks/book/playstation cos theres no vending machines but you can go out , just make sure you are back for your alocated time), we were called by an officer. She was in her mid 30's i would think with wavy blonde hair and was very nice and welcomed us. We followed her with our attorney to her office and she told us before we sit to raise our right hands and swear that everything we said in her office was true.

We sat down then and the first qu was how to pronounce Shannons surname, then she asked me to verify my name and the address where I live. I said all that and she asked me when the last time was that I entered the US. Told her the date (nov 2005) and she asked if i had ever been involved in terrorist acts or in trouble with the police etc. Answered no to that.

She asked me to look at the criminal qus and if i understood the meaning of deportation. I said I did and signed the form with the qus on it. While I was doing that she asked Shannon how we met, which he went into detail on (we met through a mutual friend). She asked then about me getting sick and how i ended up in hospital which Shannon explained was seizures induced through heat exhaustion. She was very sympathetic to that and told me to take care this summer when its projected to be in triple digits in texas again. She asked if Shannon or I had been married or had any kids (she also said not including furry kids  ) to which we said no. Then asked if we were planning to have kids to which we answered in the future we would like to. Asked if Shannon had ever been to n.Ireland to see me and he said no and she said you really must go because its such a beautiful place.

Asked me if i was working here. Told her I was doing voluntary work at the animal shelter and she told us about her sister adopting rescue dogs and told me that it was wonderful that i was volunteering. She really seemed to like that and said not many people waiting on the greencard process do volunteer but its great that you do.

Said that she had reviewed our evidence prior to us coming into the room and that everything seemed to be in order and she seen no reason not to approve me :D:D . She told me to watch the mail for the biometrics letter and that once that was complete to watch the mail for the greencard and welcome letter coming through. At that point i was nearly jumping up and down :D:lol: . She shook our hands at the end of the interview and told us that she wished us luck for the future and that it was lovely to meet us.

Its overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! i'm so totally relieved that we got such a nice officer! yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I cannot believe how long it is taking them to get you finished geordielovr. Are you considering contacting the congressman?

I did wonder if it was anything to do with the fact that you have three applications in one (if you know what I mean) but even that doesn't make sense now. I will carry on keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Hey geordieluvr,

Sorry things are taking so long.. but it will get there in the end.

Yes you mail it in... When we went to ask about Joe's greencard and possible getting and EAD after the 70th day appointment, we were told we would have to mail in the application.

I know you've thought about this, but you may be better off just waiting for the greencard.. as the EAD might not even come before it.

I know how frustrating the wait is.. we were once at the same point you are now, but it was around this time that we got the approval.

Good luck

Well, it's been awhile since I posted here, so I thought I'd update you all on my immigration fiasco..

I originally filed for AOS through DORA last July and was denied in January of this year because they didn't receive the evidence that I'd sent them (how surprising!). I filed an MTR which they lost (though they did manage to cash the $395 check), and so had to re-submit it.

I had been in touch with my local congressman and he mailed me a copy of an email he'd received from USCIS. This was back in April -

"MTR for **** ****** was granted on 4-10-06. Also, the I-485 and I-130 were approved. The file is intransit to have this information updated in our system. The applicant will receive notification when all this is complete."

Obviously I was overjoyed, but since then, I have heard nothing - and I have had NO official anything from USCIS since my case was denied, back in January.

I contacted the congressman again, and he has told me that it's not uncommon for them to take this long. When I asked him if I'd actually been approved (as the email suggests) he said "it is all very unclear".

I am a little more than pissed off!

Sorry for the rant. On a happier note, it's good to see that alot of you are having better luck than me!

Hey there!!! I was asking about you the other day. I am so sorry you're having so much trouble. We are still waiting for DH's green card its been over 5 months ( however thats nothing compared to others waits). Please keep us updated. I don't understand why they can't get their thumbs out and get us our greencards.

Hey! Thanks for the support!

To be honest, I tend not to hang around here much because I've been trying really hard not to think about the whole immigration mess - some weird idea that if you're expecting it, it won't happen, lol.

Well, that obviously hasn't worked, so here I am!

As to my case, I contacted the congressman again, earlier today - he says he will email USCIS again. So hopefully, that'll get things moving.

Jan 29 2006 - Received decision - AOS denied

Feb 24 - Filed MTR

Feb 29 - Received receipt saying check had been cashed

Mar 31 - Letter from Congressman stating that USCIS had not received my MTR

Apr 3 - Faxed copy of MTR to Congressman's office

Apr 6 - Email stating that my case should be completed within 30 days

Apr 10 - MTR granted. I-485 and I-130 approved!

July 10 - Email Update - GC has been ordered.
