Hi all - We had our interview [follow-up from the 70th day letter] this morning. Yes, it was at a wee 6:00AM, but, we made it on-time. We were called to the counter after a few minutes of waiting and was asked if we wanted to apply for an EAD [for which we said yes, and applied]. She also said the usual - AOS may not be complete, but then, it could be anytime.

The wait for the processing of EAD on-site was about an hour after which we walked out with it. We drove to the SS office at Fort Worth and applied for an SS# and was told that it would take about a month.

This forum has been great to keep us updated and has greatly helped us in calming down our immigration anxieties. Thanks to all of you.

Chi.

I have an appt sceduled with DORA for the 20th at (I think!) 2pm. I don't need it anymore (got my welcome letter and address is all changed properly as of Saturday!) so I was planning on cancelling it. Would that date be better for you? Do you want me to wait and cancel it when you're online so that you can snap it up instead?! It saves you waiting a week longer!

I think I booked it using the 'I want to speak to an officer' option. Let me know, I won't cancel it until I hear from you!!

Heres hoping you get some mail soon! :D

Well I got my welcome letter on Saturday, and so far I've got FIVE other letters telling me my address has been changed successfully. (One of which was addressed to JOHN which left me ripping open the envelope thinking -THEY SO DID NOT SEND MY GREEN CARD IN THE NAME OF JOHN!!! But all was ok. Apparently 'John' requested the address change, so I'm very grateful to him, whoever he may be!)

Now I'm just waiting for the actual card!

It seems my honesty may have paid off for me too. I put my resume on Career builder.com a few weeks ago in anticipation of getting my EAD, and some guy headhunted me. I fessed up immediately that I was approved but didn't actually have any documents yet, and he told me to wait until I did and to contact him then.

Much to my suprise, I got an email from him this morning telling me on second thoughts to scedule an interview and not to worry about not having my Green Card in hand yet, the company is willing to wait as long as necessary if I'm the right person for the job.

So keep your fingers crossed for me!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all those pending right now - Geordielovr that means you!! :D

Our follow up appt is May 2. We still don't' know if we want to pay the EAD fee or just wait. Then again... maybe we will go in and they will tell us Peter is approved! Mrs.JenJen how did you go about changing your address? Did you change it when you went in and fill out an AR-11?

YAY for the 70 day letter. I'm fully expecting you to be told you can't have an EAD, but I recommend you go regardless. They had a sheet full of 'DO NOT ISSUES' when I was there. I'd say at least half the people they expected to turn up were already approved.

I ended up phoning the information line three times. And got three changes of address confirmations in the mail!!! I also handed a letter over at the counter for my EAD - basically with all my A# and receipt # just listing the old address and the new one and asking them to update the records. I've done the official AR-11 now, but I had already got the letters from the USCIS saying the address had been changed, and recieved my welcome letter to the new address, so I'm assuming all is good and this is just a formality.

I'd definately do it now though, if you're changing addresses. I have a feeling I left mine a little bit too close for comfort!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you! :star:

well damn and double fricking damn. We got packet 1 and 2 sent today and on the affidavit of support they are counting all people who live under the same roof as people that Shannon has to support and we fall a couple hundred bucks short of the approved amount :( ..i.e. the in-laws!!! its bullcrap!!! we pay rent and dont support them grrrrr. Shannons income last year was short anyway because he was at college for a good part of the year and this years income will be projected to be a heck of a lot more. Now we have to go back and get employer letters to say what he now earns and will earn which hopefully should do the trick but this puts us back now yet another month before we even get a damn appointment.

Did I mention that I am incredibly pissed off tonight?...

well damn and double fricking damn.

Kat

Aww Kat - I totally didn't realise that because you live with the inlaws it changes things! I hope it doesn't take too long to sort out. :)

My husband was requested for an additional evidence around the first week of Jan. 06, and he sent it out on Jan. 20, 06. When we checked our case status online, it said that USCIS received that additional evidence on Jan. 31, 06, which means if we hadn't checked on line, we would not have known about it. But we've still been waiting for AOS interview since they received our file and it has been over 90 days, we believe that because we were requested for an additional evidence, so that's why, we still haven't gotten anything even EAD approval.(I did the biometric on Feb.8, 2006) We did the infopass, the office there said our case is still at MSC, when we should contact the congressman's office, and how? And since we heard a lot of things from this website that the CIS always lose some documents, so we've been worried about that. But anyway hang in there, don't give up, we admire your persistancy. Good luck. ;)

Andria:

CONGRATULATIONS on finally receiving the Biometrics Appointments for the guys!!! That's such great news!

Congrats on the 70th Day Letter, too...at least now DH can look for a job! :D

Kat:

I really am SO sorry to hear about that! :(

Can't one of your in-laws be your co-sponsor? That way you wouldn't have to put things off any longer...

I also suggest you to start reserving your Infopass Appointment for the interview right now, as it might take a few weeks...that way, when you guys have all the documents ready, you might have your appointment already scheduled and won't have any further delay!

If I can help any way, please let me know!

Best of luck,

Inlove (F)

In love, if you have a co-sponsor then you have to wait until you live at the residence for 6 months and it will be the end of june before Ive lived at the in-laws. My Mom in law though has offered to do that which was very nice of her. We really don't need it though. The financial info was based on Shannons earnings last year so we just have to get an employer letter now as back up then send away the appropriate forms again. As for the appointment, its up to our attorney to do all that..he needs to do something since were paying him big bucks :P

Thanks for you thoughts :)
