Hello!

We are now awaiting the final meeting at the US Embassy in Accra for Fiance Visa to be placed in passports. We have to purchase ticket for fiance to come here with his tree children. The question is: what is cheapest way to purchase tickets from Accra to US/California? One way? Are there any restrictions? (someone said that one-way tickets require that the passenger have a Green Card).

sounds like a good way to sell 2 tickets instead of one... Explain the situation i am sure its not a first time occurance. If not then look online. Usually travel agents have the best deals for some countries. Example if i look online for a ticket to pakistan it will cost $2,100 i can call one of the local agent and get one for $1,650 without having to book 2 weeks in advance.

I cant tell you what the cheapest way to purchase tickets is but I would look up the travel sites, such as expedia, opodo, travelocity, etc. Other than that, you can try the sites of those airlines that fly into Accra and that can take you to California from a connecting point.

In general, you would be better off buying a round trip ticket, because they tend to be cheaper than one way tickets. Make sure you check both, so you can compare prices.

Your fiances can purchase a OW ticket, for it is presumed he will remain in the US as an immigrant upon satisfying the conditions under which his K visa was issued.

travelocity.com

expedia.com

kayak.com

skyscanner.com

orbitz.com

travelpapa.com

I'd also recommend Delta, as I seem to remember they have direct flights to ATL and JFK. United flies direct to IAD.

One-way ticket is fine with K-1 visa. (Your profile says F-1 student visa, in which case one-way is fine also)

bt-store.com is a good one. And very user friendly. I use Delta to go back and forth from NYC to Accra and vice versa, and they have the same prices on their website as the 'third party sites' do. when you're dealing with international flights, round-trip tickets are usually always cheaper than trying to buy a one-way. And he does not need a green card to buy a one way ticket. Congrats on making it this far !!
