My fiance had his interview on 5/8 he was approved just needed a cosponsor. I mailed the documents the embassy said they recieved them on 6/11. I just called department of state today. The d.o.s. Informed me that the case is in administrative processing. What kind of checks are being done? Also how long is it going to take?

They have to go over the new evidence you sent. They go over name checks and background checks during AP. They also do cross checks of names and people that are similar to the beneficiary if any pop up.

- AP can take a few months to a year. They have no required time or set time to complete it.

It should be soon, that is the same thing the DOS told us as well, that our case was in administrative processing, it didn't take too long, it took 18 days from the interview date to get the visa in hand.

I thought I heard at one point that AP can also be a general designation if they are waiting on your documents.
