Hey guys,

I am Ukrainian and moved 2 months ago to Las Vegas on a fiancee visa. We've filed for AOS a couple of weeks ago and now I am in the process of waiting for all my paperwork to arrive. So I have two issues here: being a housewife drives me nuts (since I cannot legally work and as a result I don't have a chance to meet new people and make friends/connections here), second - I am sooo homesick that sometimes I just wanna run :o Just wondering if there are any Ukrainians/Russians/Belorussians in Las Vegas so we could maybe hang out together and share our experiences or just girls with the same problem? Will be happy to hear from you (L)

Actually there are quite a few Russians in Las Vegas area. Not sure if they are on this forum thought, didn't meet one yet. I used to leave in Las Vegas but moved about 2 years ago for my job. There are russian stores where you can probably meet people, there is a european / russian restaurant.

You can PM me and I can get you some of those locations if you are not familiar yet.

Hang in there, it's tough for everyone!

I moved 2 months ago too and being a housewife is also driving me crazy... I can work but haven't found a job yet. Not having much to do all day is hard!

Try to keep yourself busy outside of the house if you can: I take yoga classes, I go out for walks a lot... still getting bored and it makes me seriously nervous. :(

Yeah, I am trying to figure out what I wanna do for work, but don't have my employment authorization yet. When do you think is the best time to apply for a job? Can I start applying now and see how it goes (I heard that the hiring process in the U.S. can take up to 3 months and that would be enough time for me to receive my work permit) or is it better to wait till I get the actual work permit? B-)

3 Month Hiring Process??? I can only see this happening with the government.

Unfortunately you can't really apply for a job. Every employment application have a question about you've been legally allowed to work. While you can answer that pending work authorization permit, I don't think they would consider you especially in the current market situation.
