How long before we get passport back

Hi All,

My husband got a call from the embassy requesting that he submits his passport via dhl. Has anyone ever experienced this at the Nairobi embassy and how long did it take before they gave you back the passport? Do they call you or do they email to let you know when it is ready to pick it up or does DHL do that?

Hello, it depends on your situation...sometimes they ask you to come back to the Embassy to retrieve the passport, or they will inform you to use DHL. You can email them and ask; they are good at answering emails. If they tell you to track it through DHL, you can do so on the website as long as you are registered (http://usvisa-info.com/en-KE/selfservice/ss_country_welcome) and when they email you back, I am sure they will provide instructions for DHL as well. Once the passport is ready to be picked up, it will be on the website with the airway bill number which you will need in order to retrieve the package. It can take some time before the passport will be ready - they don't hurry for anyone, lol. So if they have it for a while, try not to worry. It's good news though that they asked for his passport!
