Hey all,

You may not (and probably don't) remember me. My name is Alissa, my husband Orri (Icelandic) and I got married in late December 2011. After months of tracking down all of our #######, we finally sent off our I-130 petition! I got confirmation through USPS that it has been delivered to the Phoenix Lockbox and so now I know that we are kind of just waiting for an NOA. However, I'm not really sure, even after reading the guides posted here, what really happens next. I know I'm waiting on an NOA, but is there anything I should be preparing in the meantime? I am headed to Iceland to visit him on July 3 and am wondering if I should take all the original docs over there with me (to save on shipping) or if I'm going to need them again? Any help is appreciated :)

You could bring them over there if you like. It wouldn't hurt. I-130 usually takes about 5 months.

Now, it's time to play the waiting game! The next step will be submitting your husband's civil documents, more fees, and your financials for Affidavit of Support. You can start researching what is needed here:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/nvc/nvc_1335.html

click on all the highlighted areas on each page to see what is required for all steps.

There are also NVC shortcuts posted on Vj for tips on how to speed things up a little.

Good Luck!
