I don't know if I'm posting in the right forum, but I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this situation. My 11-year-old stepdaughter has been coming to the US on a multiple-entry 7-year tourist visa to stay with my husband and me during the summers and on Christmas break since we were married in 2009. She is here again this summer for about two months, but she thinks she would like to stay with us and go to school here in the US. Her mom is on board with this as well, due to Mexico becoming quite dangerous. Will it be a problem for us to just change her status without sending her back to Mexico? And if so, what steps do we need to take? Thanks in advance for any advice.
