You'll have to excuse my abortion argument as I don't give two flying fvcks if someone has one or not. Personally, I think people should stop breeding period, but hey whatever floats your boat.

The 'example' on homosexuality is the point that the law is truly not discriminatory. It treats everyone equally when the definition of marriage is between one man and one woman. You want to change the law? Change what marriage is defined as or take 'marriage' out of the mix and make it a civil contract between two individuals. Who should it just be limited to couples?

Either way, both parties are wrong on a lot of issues when it come down to it. Maybe not 100% wrong, but there's always a comrpomise there if they're willing to open their eyes.

What irks the hell out of me is the perception that one party is racist and the other is not. There are blatant racists/bigots in both parties, but one party tries to mask it by blaming the other. The Democrats do more to harm the "black community" than anything the GOP has done to them in the past 30 years. It's pathetic.

I am brainwashed by no one. Believe it or not, I'm capable of indepedent thought. I have my own beliefs, and those beliefs impact nobody. I side with no party. I side with the people who I happen to agree with on the major issues. Believe it or not, those people I agree with are occasionally Republican!

But you cannot sit there and paint the GOP in an absolutely accepting, positive light and paint the Democratic party in a negative one .. .and then rant at me about how they're both assh*les at the end of the day. Of course they are. You will find racists and homophobes and idiots no matter which side of the aisle you look on. You're overwhelmingly judging only one side, though, on a regular basis. And it's laughable.

That little post up there about the GOP as a party accepting and respecting everyone is a joke ... and you must know that. There's no way you honestly believe that's what the party represents to the majority.

Democrat A: They don't recogonize the horrible things a black man has to go through.

Democrat B: They are against you and don't treat you as equals. They treat you as slaves still just like we used to do!

I'm not sure what the numbers are in regards to seniors voting either democrat or republican, but could you list a few of the entitlements the elderly receive by voting republicans into office?

Social Security and Medicare - two of the biggest socialists programs are by-and-large, doled out to seniors. Seniors, who on the whole, tend to lean more to the Right politically, while at the same time, militant about making sure they receive their socialist handouts.

Don't forget Medicaid benefits which a not insignificant number of seniors living in nursing homes receives and about 10% of food stamp beneficiaries would be seniors as well. And they break somewhere in the range of 55/35 for GOP. Clearly, socialists vote GOP!

What's the retirement age in this country? Is it still age 65? So how many people receiving EBT cards and Section 8 housing are much younger and able to work? Maybe someone has already done a study by the numbers on that? Nothing wrong with taking care of the elderly is there?

See above. You might also want to remember that the single largest entitlement expansion in recent years was Medicare Part D - passed and signed into law in 2006 - without funding, of course - by the supposedly socialism and deficit hating GOP. But you really seem to fall for the RW propaganda, don't you?

You left off medicaid! While medicaid funds go to all age groups, the elderly still take a huge share. A very important fact many are unaware of is that it is medicaid that funds the great majority of nursing home care in this country. As it is probably first up on the far right's chopping block, be ready to make room for your elderly parents and grandparents in your homes and be ready to try and nurse them through their ill health. The cost to society of acquiescing to the Grover Norquist wing of the GOP is far beyond what I think most people in this country are prepared for. Be careful what you wish for (and vote for), you may get it!
