hi guys wasnt sure if this is the right forum but my parents recently came here on a VWP from Japan for about a month vacation but when they left the US they didnt do the US VISIT program where they scan ur passport for departure from US but before they boarded to the plane they took their I94 and they even asked the stewardess if that's ok and she said it's ok. Will it be no problem if they didnt do the US VISIT program departure procedure? There coming back again for holidays thats why. Anyone here familiar with that ? Thank you in advance :D

I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as the I 94W was taken out of their passport they are fine. My parents have NEVER done it because there aren't machines on all US Airports. I guess they are still wanting to see whether thes US VISIT things make sense after all. don't worry about it, they are fine.

Hi, do you mean they took their 194 back to Japan? if that is the case then they will have problems proving the left the USA. They will have to prove they left before they will be allowed back. I did see a thread here some time ago about how and where to send the 194 and evidence of leaving (boarding cards etc.) but can't find it right now.

This was slightly confusing for us as well when my fiancee' last visited. He got 'signed in' using the US Visit proceedures, but the airport he left from (Washington, Dulles) seemed to have no idea what US Visit was or biometric sign-in/out. He did get the waver taken out of his passport, but it certainly is confusing.

They say somewhere in their literature or presentation that it isn't in place in all airports. Some may even have sign-in but not sign-out proceedures. At least at Chicago, they seemed to have sign-in, but no kiosks to sign out. This is as of August of this year.

Last week in Chicago I saw people using the US Visit machine to "sign-out" before boarding a plane so it seems O'Hare has them now - at least if you are flying out of the international terminal.

Yeah, he didn't leave from the International Terminal from Chicago. So he didn't get to log out from there. So that's entirely possible. He left from Washington (Chicago -> Washington -> Brussels). This next time he'll be using the log-in/out so I'll remind him since they exist in International terminal at Chicago.
